Humorless? I've been wondering lately, Kaidan has a great sense of humor, a little dry and sarcastic, but it's there for sure. Sadly he has not much fans, and not many players take him along on missions. This is my personal favorite for now, it often pays off to mix up "upper" and "lower" dialogs with him to know him better, many people may just miss that during the gameplay, and/or totally miss that in Sbarge's delivery (this is where the "Carth" card comes up). I can understand that, but after few playthroughs, I'm amazed that so much time since the game came out passed, and people still don't know or don't want to know Alenko better.

I'm not a fan or ST, so "Kirk" is a person unknown to me, but as far as I know Snake, he always had something funny to say to the situation, stupid handshakes with Hal, he liked women... Still, this concept doesn't fit Kaidan whatsoever, if his personality changes, my intuition says it won't be like that.

@Jho: about the Sbarge part. It's true. Sbarge does a great job reading lines and interpreting emotions, even with limited facial animations in ME1, he gave something to Kaidan, that draws me to him every time. I haven't feel that way till I started my 3d or 4th playthrough, and now I'm at 6th or 7th, just to keep saves with all dialogs with him. I've recorded few, and tried few new options I've never heard before.
The fact that I'm a hopeless romantic doesn't "help". First I liked him as LI, then I liked him as squaddie and as a "whole". Sbarge adds his talent and his lovely voice to that, and BAM, I'm drowning in a fangirl goo puddle.

Yeah, just watched the clip you linked and I did a happy, anxious sigh again. Happy because it's always great to see Kaidan clips, anxious because of what's coming in ME3. To be able to actually really talk to him again in, what we know, better developed dialogues than what we got in ME2. Assuming that's what will happen anyway since they said the relationships will be deeper etc etc. No staring at the screen going "WTH did you just say Shepard?" I hope, but going back to ME1 conversations, actual conversations because Horizon didn't feel as such to me because no matter the choice, Shepard sounds off.
I can already hear Sbarge delivering both upset Kaidan lines as softened, tender ones...going all husky and...*melts* Gosh I have such a weakness for those husky or slightly hoarse male voices :)

I have to agree with the people who said they didn't find him humorless.  Here's one example:

Ash:  Huh.  Nobody died.

Kaidan:  I could go back and shoot some people for you, if it would make you feel better.

Ash:  Nah, I'm good.

Anybody remember any others?

Speaking of hair, I want to have the mirror-function from the Black Emporium in DA2. It was great to be able to go in and tweak you Hawke until you got her just right. Don't know how many times I have restarted ME and ME2 because I didn't like how my poor F!Shep looked. Kaidan looks awesome in the pic from ME3 that I have seen so far    <3      yay for pretty hair on Kaidan and Shep

I second this. I've done the same thing with my femsheps...start over and over till I get it the way I want...doesn't always look the same in game as it does in the character creator.

Kaidan had a great sense of humor...I'd like to see more of it in ME3 though...they said they were bringing in more humor this time even though it was darker.

I still think the exchange in Chora's den with him and Ash is hilarious. I don't think I have the exact quotes but Kaidan comments on how Chora's den has "quite the view" and Ash says  "Uh, Lieutenant? Put your tongue back in your mouth before you trip on it".

The other exchange has Ash saying something about travelling half way across the galaxy and still finding a bar full of half naked women and Kaidan says something along the lines of "What...you mean they didn't come here for the food."

I wish.

Love the pic...but it kinda makes me wonder with the biotics...does Bioware have a thing for the color blue? Blue Asari, biotics glow blue...DA2 Anders glowy blue eyes.

Kaidan looks like he's growling in this one...me kinda like that expression. Wonder what Sbarge would sound like growling?

Like it would cause this............

Kaidan's humor is more shown in dialogs, it's not necessary his one liners like "get a job" or "I think we're gonna need a bigger boot, commander". He may not even intend to be "funny", but there's few moments that catch my attention when he's talking about BAaT. Also, a lot of verses aren't available for "non LI" Kaidans. Pity, I hope that will change in ME3.

The way he talks about how Vyrnnus liked to introduce himself. The "Buncha guys in suits show up at your door after school, and next thing you know you're out on Jump Zero". The "We kept our clothes on" line about Rahna, as a response for Shepard's prompting. It's all very specific and you can feel that Sbarge's smiling while reading sometimes, thou Kaidan's expression doesn't change.

I wonder if Kaidan knew Mitra.

I've wondered about that a lot.  I've also wondered what Hendel's opinion of what happened to Vyrnnus was.

I've been working on some a couple of roughdrafts and spelling his name wrong all day Kia instead of Kai.

I heard about the hair improvement...is kinda making me want to get a new graphics card. I'd love a scene where she runs her hands through his hair...and messes it all up...looks like they are working for a little more realism in those types of things...I thought wet from the rain Shepard in Arrival was a nice touch...it looked really sharp to me.

Another interesting comment from Casey:

Question: Why can fShep identify as gay and pursue a relationship appropriate to that orientation when mShep can't? A double standard?

Answer: Valid questions, and ones that we're discussing internally. Much yet to be revealed regarding #ME3

Wonder if they are going to make the M/M relationships now available?

OMG, Casey actually admitting that Liara/femShep is a lesbian relationship?  I think I'm going to faint!

But I hope this means that fans of Kaidan/maleShep will get the option to pursue that romance

Kinda caught me off guard too when I read it...since they had denied it for so long.

Couple of new ones(that I found interesting):

Question: Are all Love Interest's going to be permanent squad members?

Answer: Love interests won't all necessarily be permanent squad members in #ME3 . Interesting new things happening in that area.

Also this:

Question: Are we going to see our Shepards break down? They're human, we need emotion. Deeper connections.

Answer:With #ME3 being the end of this journey for Shepard, we're trying new methods of drawing players into the emotion of that.

Okay on that second one I am dying to see Kaidan comfort Shepard...like I said before I always view her looking at the picture of him in ME2 as indication that she was looking to him as her rock...her support.

The new pic of him with Liara and MaleShep kinda makes Sheploo look sad. Kaidan has always been better looking but standing right next to each other makes it all the more obvious.

I can fix that.

I don't think any of us can really judge each other for being desperate.

Now I feel guilty for liking Kaidan in a Cerberus uniform. Have to agree with noxpanda: get him out of it!

Dont know why, but i like midle Kaidan the most

Man, I'm tempeted to go through ME1 again just to make a database of Kaidan quips.

Another vote for "Kaidan has a great sense of humor!" here. I'd put him fourth in the ME series, after Mordin, Wrex, and Garrus... but still, the other three have the advantage that they weren't written as relatively sane LIs (at least at first), but rather wacky aliens.

Also, I don't usually fall for guys without a sense of humor. If Kaidan had actually been humorless, I definitely wouldn't be in this thread. The humor, combined with all the times he accidentally hits on or compliments Shepard, and then has to backpedal? Adorable.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Kaidan has a lot of interesting unique dialogue options throughout the game -- especially if Ashley's in the squad. Their banter is great: overlooking the Citadel and Ashley jokes about walking drag because Kaidan trips over his tongue, Chora's Den about the food and the aliens, Kaidan offering to shoot people when Ashley is disappointed that nobody died. I think people who believe Kaidan is humorless haven't really experienced him. Some of that probably stems from the "Carth" hate, which is unjust to Kaidan. People should give him a chance, and I think he might just surprise them.

I have to admit, however, that was my first time hearing the lower dialogue option for Kaidan during that conversation. I could hear Sbarge's snirky smirk as he delivered that line. Add the salute afterwards, and it's perfect.  =]

Casey Hudson just tweeted this on twitter:

"Happy to confirm #ME3 supports wider options for love interests incl. same-sex for m&f chars, reactive to how you interact w/them in-game."

Perhaps more people will begin to appreciate Kaidan if he's an LI for male Shepard? A girl can hope =)

Couple more on the twitter:

This question was in response to the tweet you posted:

Can they not just spring it up if the PC doesn't show any interest though? That was one thing that bugged me in DA2 w/ Anders

His answer: Far to go before final dialog is written. These details would be spoilers anyway as with other LI's. Input welcome.

I'm glad he's welcoming that input...Anders didn't bother me so much...because I romanced him as a MaleHawke...but I'm thinking if they back off pushing the LI's in your face I'll enjoy talking with the characters more...the Jacob interaction still bothers me.

Second tweet:

Question:Will there be less dialogue with characters just because you don't romance with them? That was a problem with ME2.

Answer:  #ME3 writing team has some great ideas for breaking the mold on char. interactions, which should add to non romance relationship.

More dialogue is always good...and so is more Kaidan:

Good news for people who wanted S/S, just feel bad that their romances won't run through all three games.

Now all I want at E3 is some video of Kaidan in game please,
