Yay (and thanks) at least someone else sees it and I can stop thinking that I'm going crazy here...

Your not crazy...someone posted a zoomed picture of it quite a few pages back and it was there but like I said it's so early in the development stages of the game they could change it...then again they may have just hid it because him becoming a Spectre is a big part of the plot.

I seriously hope when I walk into my cabin on the Normandy I find Kaidan standing against the wall just like that ^

Even if the picture is something BIOWARE put up and zoomed in?

This was the entire reason I didn't pretty up the HTML link. I was shocked when I noticed it, because my wallpaper came from BioWare, not somewhere else.

I'm a pessimist as I rule, but I find myself disappointed with the very idea of Kaidan being a Spectre. He just isn't the Spectre type. Like, at all. "I'm Alliance, always will be." And the very fact that he refuses to so much as help Shep in ME2 just screams that he needs to do things by the book.

I just don't like it. And thus:

I really think the VS´s turn to a Spectre WILL be a big Part of the Plot. Why would they let kaidan and ash otherwise be sidelined in me2? Think they needed them alive to include them in the storyline of Part 3.

They haven´t done this just to tease us... right?...right?:crying:

Hm. Remember my first reaction on this armour: "First grey, then greenish, now blue? Wait, I've seen similar colour and design somewhere. Tela Vasir? But this means... ooh".
And again Kaidan just holds a pistol. Any chances on promotional/cutscenes where he "casts"?

I stumbled across this group on Facebook and, per the group info, it seems David Gaider wrote for Kaidan at some point. That's news to me. I was never aware David had laid his hands in the slightest on Mass Effect. Would anyone know about this and whether it's even true?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that whoever wrote that is confused, or just assumes David Gaider is the only writer Bioware employees.  Pacifien spoke directly to Lukas Kristjanson, who wrote Kaidan, and he said that writing characters was a collaborative effort, but noone outside of the Mass Effect writers was mentioned.

Why wouldn't Gaider be in the credits, if he did any work on ME?  Sounds fishy to me.

Absolutely agree. Kaidan is the sexiest VG character I've encountered. The only other male character I can think of that would give him a run for his money is Anders from DA2 (not Awakening). Kaidan's still the winner, hands down ^_^

Anders is up there.  I love his passion.  But there's a wide gap between the Sbarge men and anyone else, though.  Anders is #3 for me.  ;)

@Kaidan with a touch of grey--I agree.  It would be hot.

I thought as much, TZ. I never saw Gaider's name in the ME1 credits. And I'm pretty sure David has mentioned in one of his forum posts that he isn't at all involved in Mass Effect.

Ooh.  I haven't seen that one before.  I like it!

@princess:  I don't think I can agree with you.  I think he would be a very different kind of spectre than Shepard--much more undercover and subtle--behind the scenes rather than Shepard's storming the castle style.  Kaidan would probably align with Alliance mosty heavily in his dealings, but I think he can also see the big picture.  Plus, the council is heavily governed by human interest now.  And I can see Anderson being the one that does most of the assignements for him.  Kaidan being a Spectre actually helps make a number of things about him in ME2 make sense.

Part of me still thinks Ash/Kaidan was sidelined due to the fact they wanted to concentrate on the new characters but that's just me. They say they needed them alive but it wouldn't be the first time they have said something and then backtracked and said just the opposite.

After ME2 I don't know that I completely trust them to do the characters we knew in ME1 justice...I don't know...I still question some of the decisions they made for
ME2...working for Cerberus...the dialogue with Jacob...the way Shepard
acted around Jacob(do they even know what women want anymore...takes me back to having to let Alistair sleep with Morrigan and claiming they gave us a fairytale ending...are they serious? having to let my LI sleep with someone else so we can be together is not my idea of a fairytale ending...sorry for the rant but I still role my eyes at it.).  Any how I just felt like they were so out of character with the Shepard in ME2...dind't seem like the Femshep I played in ME1. Some of the seemingly major decisions of ME1 didn't seem to matter so much either. All just my opinion of course but we all have them lol.

For now I'm just waiting...don't think anything they've said thus far is written in stone except the fact that there will be a ME3.

I agree with that...I would also think he would be one not to "cut corners" whereas Shepard would...he'd probably be by the book and always try and make sure he had council support and he'd be sure to keep them in the loop whereas Shepard might not even contact them...okay I have to admit playing renegade and hanging up on the council was fun.:D

I do think a lot of Kaidan's part in ME3 has been set in stone a long time ago. Even now Casey tweets that Kaidan/Ash are squadmembers AND main characters in ME3 and in that context what he said about ME2 makes more sense too, saving them for ME3...so the VS can be a main character (and have a big role) and doesn't have a possible ME2 death hanging over them.
They're changing things as they go it seems but to me it sounds like the main story and the characters involved has been decided on a long time ago. It's like Jesse told us too, great things are coming for the VS :)
I just hope they do Kaidan justice character wise in his 'big role', but even on Horizon Kaidan was pretty much Kaidan imo so I'm not too worried. I'm actually more concerned about how much they are going to make me cringe where Shepard is concerned this time around ;)

I'm with you there on the fairytale ending. When I was playing my Kimbrie Cousland, that scene made me feel really ill--to watch my fiance sleep with her. :(

I just hope and pray that they don't give us the "heroic" ending by having to have the VS die. If in some endings it happens (particularly if the relationship between the VS and Shepard remains strained), I'd be okay with that. But I will hate this series eternally if one of the fixed plot points is that Kaidan dies.

I can see that as one of the potential endings, just as I can see the rainbow and bunnies one with a wedding and kids, and the ones where the galaxy's a smoking ruin.

Bioware's said that with ME3 being the final game, they're not bound by the restrictions they had for gameflow with ME2 and are able to finally let all choices impact as they've wanted to.  Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to it.

Kaidan is a by the book, follow the rules man. It's who he is. He's not a "results at any cost kind of guy". Eesh, I suppose that means I could hang with the idea of Jacob being a Spectre 1st.

I'm not saying it isn't something that could work in ME3, story-wise (hell, they could end up making every single member of Shep's team a Spectre as a result of events in ME3, and that would work). But as of now, that's cringe-worthy news, as far as I'm concerned.

Your right about Kaidan's character in ME2...it was dead on for what little we saw him..hopefully they'll have the same writer (please not whoever wrote Jacob) but yeah if Shep acts like she did with Jacob I may cringe myself.

I don't want an ending where Kaidan dies either...I don't mind one where they both die(read a fanfic once of someone who did that...they died in each others arms...very moving)...have to admit I want at least one where the reapers win just to see it happen...nothing canon...I just think the scene would be interesting to see. Really wonder how many endings they may have?

Saw one of his tweets after posting  #ME3 will definitely balance dark themes and heavy emotions with lighter moments and comedic relief.

lol please don't tell me they are going to get heavier emotions than Horizon...my Femshep has been through enough...then again maybe that will have something to do with the "bad thing" for those who cheated. I'll take the lighter moments and comedic relief gladly.

I can see them both dying together. It wouldn't be my first choice of endings, but I could accept that as one of several endings--provided there's a riding into the sunset one as well. But like the cut Dark Side ending of KOTOR--where they die in each other's arms but know that they sacrificed for the sake of the galaxy and have a loving moment together at the end.

I tweeted Hudson about that this morning--asking to not have VS death as a fixed plot point because it would ruin the entire series for VS fans.
If its one possible ending, I can live with it--also providing its also a possible ending of every romanced character--not just Kaidan and Ash and provided there's what we would consider happy ending.
