Since Kaidan will be only a year or two older than me during the events of ME3, I really, really don't want to think of him as a "silver fox"....:crying:

But yeah, experience and maturity is always good.  Alistair was wonderful, but also a special case.

Edit:  have a ToP oil painting:

thank you guys :), and oh yes, there are definitely romance writers that are men out there. that piece of fiction was very lovely, made me so sad and then made me grin in happiness :)

Didn't Gaider himself write Denoument?  So yeah... and he's been the force behind most of Bioware's best male love interests, except for Kaidan.  And wasn't Kaidan's main writer also a man?  So obviously at least some Bioware men know how to write good romance :wizard:

I didn't mean Kaidan was a silver fox (althought imagine how hot he'd be if he was older ), I meant generally that alot of women like older men. :P

eg. George Clooney etc.

So they shouldn't be afraid to use older men in games! I would romance Zaeed if I could.

Kaidan, IRL he would be a good 12 years older than me but most of actors I fancy are in their 40's/50's so he is still young. :D

It's all about the experience

George Clooney? LOL. I've never been able to find him attractive. I always remember him as his goofy characters on Facts of Life and Roseanne. He was geeky and akward. I just can't ever seem him any different from that.

But Kaidan will be hot regardless of his age--his maturity and self-reliance without being cocky about it. So attractive.

I know that BW has been a bit leery about using S'barge again for LI VA, but I think it would be very interesting for him to play a darker character LI. It would be interesting to see what that would do to my tendancy to play paragon characters.

I don't find Clooney attractive, he was the only example I could think of. (he's not quite grey yet but I LOVE Benicio Del Toro)

Was it cos of Carth? (I've yet to play KOTOR, getting the game next week). His voice is too sexy not to ever use him again.

I was re-reading Kaidan's info on wiki and the whole Rahna issue, it would be interesting if she appeared but I doubt it. I would also like to see him have a few "badass" moments but I live in hope.

My question is slightly off-topic, but some people mentioned here that Kaidan's auto-level in ME sucks, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for ME squadmate levelling, or if they know of any guides? I've been looking, but only find some for ME2. Thanks!

I never autolevel Kaidan. He's soooo versatile! I guess it depends on what class you are playing--what skills you need him to have. I usually am playing some sort of biotic. So I need his overload and sabotage abilities. Maxing out his lift is very useful for fighting a Collosus on foot. Then there's his first Aid--I pour extra points into that. I max out his Sentinel abilities. And then there's his electronics and grrr...the other one with electronics--deciphering?
I put one point in stasis as well.

I think Sbarge got a lot of flak because of the Carth hate--which I don't get. Carth is one of my fav. VG characters of all time and is #2 on my fav Star Wars characters list (#1 is Mara Jade--hence my name).

I don't think I would want Rahna to come up again. He's dealt with that and its in his past. Its one of the really great things about the character. That he is self-suficient. He is there in a nice, caring supportive way for Shepard without asking her to fix his problems for him.
And yes. Kaidan needs a kick-butt scene in ME3. He's the only character that never really gets one. His intro is giving Joker a hard time--and while that's entertaining, it doesn't really show off how completely awesome he is as a teammate! I mean, when I play, he can take out whole bunkers all by himself!

I avoid autolevel like the plague.  For levelling Kaidan, it does depend on what class your Shep is.  For my biotic Sheps, I'll level his tech/medic skills first and if I'm on my non-biotics, I pump up his biotics first.  Unfortunately I lost the screenshots I had of Kaidan's screen with how I levelled him in the last hard drive meltdown otherwise I'd post them.

If you play on insanity (which is SO much more fun in ME as opposed to ME2), barrier, lift and throw are life savers.

Agreed. I heart Kaidan's black hair. But I did marry an older man. Kaidan is, what, 3 or 4 years older than Shep? That's seriously the same gap as me and my hubby.

Should be doing work but what Kaidan would look like in 30+ years, well just his hair.

If the game asks me to sacrifice Kaidan, I might turn off the console in order to absorb the shock. And then never turn it back on again. Ever. Especially if it's a fixed ending. I don't think I could handle that. My poor little hopelessly romantic heart might explode.

However, if it's not a fixed ending, but merely one of many endings, I could handle that. It sure as hell won't be my canon ending, however.

I wouldn't mind having this waiting for me outside of the shower on the Normandy

No...no sacrifice please...I had to endure that with Ashely. If Shepard can save the whole crew in the SM in ME2, then she sure as hell can save Kaidan.

Also...do want, please.:wub::wub:

That moment on Virmire on my first playthrough about killed me :( Aside from the romancing Kaidan part, I thought for sure that if I chose to not go back to the bombsite, something bad would happen.

I agree with you though. If Shep is able to save everyone in ME2, then that should be possible in ME3. Even if it's really hard to do that and you have to work for it, I think it should be one of the possible endings.

Interesting tendency - I'm also putting points into tech skills first, because most of my Sheps are vanguards. Their relationships with electronics are on such spectacular level that the console from ME1 has all reasons to be broken just by presense of captain's quarters nearby.
For Kaidan's past - I definitely don't want to see Rahna but will love to meet cousin who is in agricultural business and listen one of the nasty childhood stories :)

I really think game developers underestimate the power of the older man aka the silver fox.

lulz

It's all about Kaidan with Fenris just like 00.01mm behind!

With the endings, I'm hoping for a system like in DA:O with having self sacrifinng/bad/happy ending(well without Kaidan having to sleep with someone?!?! ARGH)

I don't think I could sacrifice Kaidan or anyone tbh...

I am a sucker for fairytale endings, hopefully there will be a chance...

No wait a minute.  Kaidan's a little too young to be called a silver fox.  He's a mature, virile man in his prime.  (don't we have a lust emoticon?  Posted Image)

I'm a sucker for men in their primes, especially in video games ^_^ Carth and Kaidan are solely responsibly for that.

I usually make an infiltrator Shepard, but always put points into weapons // armor first for my Shepard, so I use Kaidan's tech skills followed by lift and throw and sentinel training. His points also depend somewhat on who you plan on taking with you for other missions (not a whole lot, but a little bit.) I think I remember reading somewhere that having everyone in your squad able to do "electronics" or "decryption" wasn't beneficial, because only having one person able to do it was enough. Not sure if that's accurate information though.

It is bad I still find Jack Nicholson and Harrison Ford sexy? Or maybe it's cos I now they were hot 20 years ago and I still see it?

Listening to the ME soundtrack whilst doing homework, very motivating, well Kaidan is my wallpaper also, so that helps somewhat!

I agree. I prefer mature men. I like that both Shepard and Kaidan are a bit older and not in their early twenties.

About Carth though...I loved the KOTOR romance, both Carth as a character and the dialogues with him, but to be honest, the whole "I have a dead wife" plot background is not one of my favourites. I'm glad they haven't used that for Kaidan.

Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Pierce Brosnan.. I love men who just get yummier with age.

On another topic, is there anyone else who thinks that the scene with Kaidan on Horizon is what makes Femshep/Kaidan so obsession-inducing? Coming by my Kaidan-love long after multiple playthroughs of both games, I think Kaidan is absolutely justified in everything he said to Shepard. And I don't think there's anything she could have said that could have fixed things between them right then and there.

On Horizon, I am totally on the side of the VS if I were there, I'd saying... ''You tell her, Kaidan''
I think the VS is the only squaddie with enough integrity to question Shepard and not just abandon what they believe in to follow blindly.... I also think they are smarter than the rest (inc. Shep) because it looks like they were right if what we are told about 3 is true........... mmmhmmm......

I agree 100%, the problem I find with it myself if that I would respond so much differently. I have to remember that shepard even though she is me, I can't choose the dialogue that the writers gave so I choose the best options. If i was somehow in the game it would be so different:P

But Kaidan was being a **** or anything. We do/say things when we are angry or see how "dead" lover alive! :crying:

I'm with you on Harrison Ford.  Clint Eastwood--well Bridges of Madison County and his man-boobs turned me off.  Posted Image  But Edward James Olmos does it for me (Admiral Adama from Battlestar Galactica--the more recent version)--plus, he has that latin lover thing going when you interact with him (kisses on both cheeks or holds your hand up to kiss the back of it).  hehe

And I was thinking about Horizon last night.  No.  I don't think there was anything that you could say to have fixed things right there and then, but there were A LOT of things that could have been said that could have kept him from stomping off.  He thought that Shepard had gone rogue, faked her death and joined up for Cerberus--or worse yet, that she was Cerberus the whole time and played him while she was undercover.  Shepard's lack of emotions didn't help him to believe that he had meant anything to her.
He's so pleased to see her, then you can see the heartbreak and disappointment when he starts thinking about the implications of how she came to still be alive.  Then the anger comes.  I love how you can see the whole transition of emotions play over his face.

But no.  I don't think that there was anything in that moment that would have made resurrection from the dead plausible for him.  He's too grounded for that.  Idealistic, but still a realist--especially after those two heartbreaking years for him.

I love the man's complexities.

We've done this who's right and wrong on Horizon debate several times here. They were both reacting badly--but that happens at times with strong emotions.

But I just don't understand Shepard here. She just raced to his rescue, looked EVERYWHERE on the settlement for him. Then thought that the Collectors had him and had escaped the planet. Then he appears out of the blue like out of a dream. And all she can say is "How you doin?'!! I would have held him tightly, tears in my eyes and been mumbling over and over thanks to God that he was still alive and well and not taken by the Collectors.
