I know. And I worry because no matter how good it is, I am worried that ME3's handling of Kaidan and Shepard's story could never hold up to our expectations of what it "should" be.

EDIT for top of page:

What I wouldn't mind seeing in Kitty's version of ME3--showdown between Kaidan (true love) and Jacob (because he was the only human male on the ship :P)

But I just don't understand Shepard here. She just raced to his rescue, looked EVERYWHERE on the settlement for him. Then thought that the Collectors had him and had escaped the planet. Then he appears out of the blue like out of a dream. And all she can say is "How you doin?'!! I would have held him tightly, tears in my eyes and been mumbling over and over thanks to God that he was still alive and well and not taken by the Collectors.

She didn't want to open old wounds.  She says so herself.  Perfectly justified, Shep is.  Obviously, Kaidan won't listen to reason.  It's not like freelancing with extremists for no apparent reason is so hard to understand.  :innocent:

Re: Kaidan's Skillset

I run with a soldier and I toss a whole bunch of points into the biotics/Sentinel and unlock medicine ASAP so he can toss heavy geth and krogan around with ease.  Although he also opens locked crates for me from time to time, so naturally he's got some electronics and decryption.

And unlike Shepard, he gets all his skill points reset in a New Game+.  :wizard:

I know, I know.  I just want to see what happens in ME3 with an unfaithful Shep.  My 2nd paragon, Kara is interested in Thane but I think is going to turn him down in the end, unable to be unfaithful to Kaidan.
Kitty will be pissed at Kaidan on Horizon and will take up with Jacob to "show" Kaidan she doesn't care (although she does).  Why Jacob?  Kitty is xenophobic and Jacob's the only male human around.  It makes me cringe.  Garrus or Thane would be more of my preference.  But the human thing.  And really, its not Jacob's fault that Shepard sounds all horned up in the armory.  *rolls eyes*

We've done this who's right and wrong on Horizon debate several times here. They were both reacting badly--but that happens at times with strong emotions.

Yes, that would have been my preferred reaction too.  I know people have tried to justify it with, "She didn't want to make their relationship evident with Cerberus watching and/or listening" but honestly, in that situation I would be way beyond thinking that logically.  Screw Cerberus, my Shepard would have tackle-hugged him with tears of joy in her eyes and the very first words out of her mouth would have been, "Kaidan!  Thank God you're okay."

Besides, Kaidan announces "I loved you" to Shepard in front of everybody.  So that pretense is out the window.  And TIM seems to know anyways.

I agree. I prefer mature men. I like that both Shepard and Kaidan are a bit older and not in their early twenties.

About Carth though...I loved the KOTOR romance, both Carth as a character and the dialogues with him, but to be honest, the whole "I have a dead wife" plot background is not one of my favourites. I'm glad they haven't used that for Kaidan.

I completely agree. The Carth romance was slow and real. Yo really got to know him and flrt with him a bit before anything started to happen. Being able to get to know him and appreciate him as a character made that romance that much more awesome. The dead wife background, however, was one of the more weaker aspects. I could have done without that -- especially in conjunction with the son plotline.

So I'm with 100% on Kaidan not having something like that hanging over his shoulder. He's steady as a rock and Shepard can rely on him completely. He's grounded, realistic, and super attractive.

And I can't live without him in ME3

The "How are you?" line made me rage so much! All the emotions that I'd gone through that entire mission, knowing he was there, searching for him, staring down each colonist, and then absolutely 100% convinced that he was dead before he just waltzes magicall around the corner, sexy Sbarge voice reciting how Shepard was a legend and a ghost... and all Shepard has to say is, "Kaidan, how are you?" Are you kidding me?! I would have rocketed into his arms after standing there in shock and been a sobbing wreck! Hardcore marine be damned, when someone you love has returned after you believe they've been taken or worse, tears are a given. I would not have been able to stop touching him, making sure he was real.

So I was guarding Ashley's butt against a geth shock trooper that she was about to trip over, and Kaidan backed into my field of vision, all glowing.

Posted Image

From what I can tell, he was taking down a rocket trooper.  (That is, it was keeling over when I swung the camera that way.)

Posted Image

And afterwards he proceeded to knock a krogan battlemaster around like a helium-filled beach ball.  Which I don't have footage of, but was fun all the same.

... I love these marines.

My 2 cents has been add. If they made a Kaidan t-shirt I would never take it off. Sleeping, working, taking a shower...it would never come off. Or I would have a second to wear while I washed the first.

Also I have this tendancy whenever BW announces ANOTHER Tail or Garrus shirt on Facebook to post something sarcastic about yet another shirt I couldn't care less about and I want one with Kaidan on it!

I have the N7 hoodie with the stripe down the sleeve and have been playing with the idea of embroidering "Lt. Commander Shepard" on it--but part of me is tempted to put Shepard-Alenko.  Posted Image

I fixed my internal reaction to Shepard's first line to Kaidan by assuming that she thinks he's moved on after two years.  That kind of awkward moment with an ex that you're still in love with when you run into them unexpectedly.  Where you say something oh-so-stupid and overly polite because you don't want to embarass yourself expressing emotions that (you assume) they don't reciprocate.

(Edited for buggering up the quote in my attempt to only use the part I was responding to.  grrrr....)

Hmm, I think in that context I can understand it. It would be rough running into someone you had an intense (albiet brief) relationship with two years in the past. Especially if for you it felt like only a month or so had passed instead of two years. I can't imagine the thoughts going through both of their minds at that moment. One of them believes the other has come back from the dead, the other unbelieving that the one is still alive. It's such an emotionally charged scene.

I still wouldn't have been able to stop choking back desperate sobs of joy.

Hello everyone. I have decided to finally stop skulking around and say hello. It's funny, I have only recently discovered these forums and I've been stalking this one ever since. It's so nice to find someplace where Kaidan is loved. All my previous experience has been on forums with people saying things like "...Kaiden (they don't even have the decency to spell his name right) you mean there are actually people who let him live?" Those comments make me so sad.

Welcome bluedolphin! It's always good to see another fan of Kaidan. This place is so peaceful, hm?

About Shepard's lines - my best explanation is that after storming through Horizon Shepard overused her biotics so isn't at her best in talking

All this KOTOR talk makes me want to dig out the discs we've got somewhere and finally play it.  Though from what I've heard there's some essential mods required to bring out the full Carth goodness.
