Oh don't worry, Ash and Kaidan aren't leaving my party until I find that scene  (kaidan probably won't leave full stop, haha)

What classifies as beginning the romance anyway? Like a certain dialogue, certain scene, or just not shooting the lovestruck underling down after they react to the beautiful women line?

I seem to be breaking the plot a bit in the progress too, so stop me before something explodes! XD

As mentioned, it's the overlook platform across from Flux and the hall to the elevator to the Presidium.

There'll be a inspection box that crops up.  You have to do it before you meet Wrex or Garrus, while Kaidan and Ashley are still your only other squadmates.  After that, people will be in your way, including a guy and a gal kinda staring off into the distance while embracing one another.

(I found it my first playthrough, then missed it after that because I wanted to save it for afterwards for some reason.  )


Ze Edit: Also, the romance will pretty much go on its own unless you tell him off or tell him that aliens suck.  (The collective non-human species, not the movie; although I am uncertain what Kaidan thinks of the movie, Aliens.)

Before I meet those guys? Compulsive saving to the rescue! I figured I'd probably missed it somewhere since I could have other people in my party....but I'm not skipping that scene. This Shepard is going to stay loyal and she's going to milk that for all its worth in this game in case ME3 doesnt go in her favour XD

Go back to the point right after Shepard talks to the Council the first time then head straight down to the Wards.

This has been bothering me for quite some time, so I'm kind of relieved that you mentioned it, Red.  I knew that Kaidan said something, because I remembered him saying it at some point, but my last two playthroughs, nothing about it.  I tried talking to Chakwas before talking him, then tried never talking to Chakwas, but nothing.  This makes me realize that he and my Shep (because I'm lame and only have one) had the conversation during one of my two Liara romance playthroughs.  Relief!  And a little disappointment...

Kaidan didn't told this to any of my Shepard even if not romanced. But if I recall youtube vids right, he says he's stronger than many L3s except Shepard, and my chars usually gladly assume Kaidan is the strongest biotic in party, and the most reliable, and...

I seem to recall haivng the L3 versus L2 implants conversation once or twice with Kaidan, but I usually play an infiltrator, so I can't recall how I got to it off the top of my head. (I do love a good sniper rifle.)

I found the "No wonder they like you..." conversation straight across from the entrance to the clinic. When you go to recruit Garrus, put your back to the door. Walk straight ahead to the railing. There should be a "box" to click on that starts the convo. I didn't get that particular tidbit until my last playthrough either. (And I've probably played three femsheps...)

I love making Kaidan just a little bit jealous with both her and Liara before letting Shepard fully give in. I'm not sure I've gotten that dialogue...Guess I'll have to look through my savegames and find something on the citadel before Shaiira. Exactly where does the romance with Kaidan begin? If I choose the top dialogue options after Eden Prime, that starts the romance off, right? 

What does he say about the biotics if you don't romance him? Not sure if I have ever played though ME without at least starting a romance with him.

My first playthrough as an adept, when I had only played soldier before, I was expecting him to comment on the
fact that we were both biotics. I got in the conversation hoping that him and my Shep could have a dialogue about braincamp, but alas...he didn't even mention my Shep's biotic abilities. A bit of a disappointment there.

What I do to get that dialogue is after becoming a Spectre I leave the Citadel without meeting with Sha'ira. I do at least one mission, (Noveria, Feros, or Therum) then talk to Kaidan. I'm not exactly sure which dialogue choices start the romance but I'm fairly sure the top dialogue after Eden Prime has no effect besides getting a sweet smile from him. After that I return to the Citadel and speak with Sha'ira and TADA jealous Kaidan.

@Brodyaha, you have to talk to Kaidan and Liara in a certain order. After you recruit Liara, talk to Kaidan then Liara, do another mission and then talk to Liara then Kaidan. If I remember right that should get him to say it. Its the second chance of him getting jealous of Liara.

Someone once put together some if not all of Kaidan's dialogue trees. Does anyone still have that link?
