My guy friend told me he kind of hopes Kaidan won't be romancable for ManShep in ME3. He said and I quote: "But the thrill in Kaidan is the fact that you know you'll never have a shot. So you go on secretly loving him knowing full well he will never recepricate and you go home every night and cry yourself to sleep and eventually become a sociopathic serial killer... or so I would assume..."

I love my friends.

It is for this reason that I hope that they make gay-only love interests in ME3.  I think it's time for us straight people to have to cry onto our keyboards (or controllers!) in our unrequited love for a change.

Haha, I know that some Bioware devs have said that this isn't likely, but I'd support it wholeheartedly.  We've already got unattainable pixels we can't have (see: Joker, Varric, Cullen), why not give some of them an orientation other than PlayerCharacterSexual?

Hmmm.... I rather have the possibility to choose a LI that I think would work with my Shep. It would be a little sad to see yet another LI that I can't have entering the stage. Already pining for Tali and Miranda. That's why I personally think it would be great if Kaidan was available for M!Shep =)

see, I'd rather create a shep that fits the LI I want instead of making said LI available to any and all shepard. I actually wish that LI's could turn you down if you play for the alignment that they do not personally support, but alas...

There is some dialogue that is unique to femshep and there's some dialogue that is unique to maleshep, there are some options only available if you play renegade and other options that show up only if you play paragon. all of the options are available to all of the players... but not all at the same time. you chose your path. I personally prefer it that way. it increases re-playability.
it encourages us to try out different things, step out of the comfort zone. I probably would not have tried playing mshep, if not for the romances I couldn't experience any other way and you know what? it was fun and I'm glad I tried it.

I actually wish they would create LI's that were s/s only, but as far as I understand - its simply too much work for content that will be experiences by too few people so bisexual LI's seem to be the most cost effective. pity. a bit of rejection never hurt anyone... permanently anyways.

Was playing ME2 today, it's been awhile and I got kind of inspired to finish another playthrough. I bought the latest armor pack which has new armor for Miranda (Thank God, poor girl has pants now) Well I noticed something, the collar for her armor looks very similar to Kaidan's collar on his new armor. I'm not so sure that it's Alliance dress blues under his armor anymore. It still could be, but then what the hell is Miranda wearing under hers?

That's interesting, maybe Cerberus have their own version maybe? I need to get one of the armour packs.


The issue with making Kaidan an LI for manshep is fine in a sense but I just think there are better candidates or a new LI would be better suited.

The issue I find is that then they have to make him romancable then for femsheps who perhaps havent in ME1/2. Just as long as the loyalists who have stayed faithful get more content and a better romance I'll be happy, I don't want the same for people who havent had to wait. Obviously those who wanted to as a male couldnt so I'd understand but late coverters of the female persuasion should not all get the awesomness that is Kaidan Alenko.

I see what you mean    =)    I just haven't been able to connect with my M!Shep so it's all me. Have the same thing with M!Warden. Really tried to drag myself through the game that I loved on my F!Wardens. Don't know why really but I always just work with a F!Char in every single game. But I like watching hubby play his M!Warden. Have no idea why it is that way but I have really tried to make it work. I really enjoy watching other's play their M!Char but can't just connect to one myself. Really glad that they will have a bi- LI in ME3. I guess that the one thing that's good about it is that it would make me spend even more time on the computer replaying ME and ME2 to get all the LI:s. Ha ha ha .... I have enough playtime as it is.

Even if she really liked Kaidan, it goes against regs for her to sleep with him and therefore 'wrong'. She does the 'right' thing and restrains herself, waiting for a time when it won't go against Alliance policy to be with him. Then she dies and misses her chance. Fast forward 2 - 3 years or so when ME3 takes place. Now they have a second chance and regs are no longer a problem.

I have a Shepard saved for just that situation, she didn't romance Kaidan but he is still alive. She also didn't romance anyone in ME2. I'm hoping for her to finally get with Kaidan in ME3 or she might be forever alone.

Good point, I think they will include it anyway. You really hit the nail on that one Might retract my previous statement.

Just as long as an extra for romance started in ME1

Hmmm.... I would be really happy if there was a good romance with Kaidan that started at ME3. Then I would make a Shep that was either single through ME and ME2 or one that lost her LI tragicly in the SM   . Just because it would be really interesting to see how that would play out. As long as my faithful Shep get's a relationship with Kaidan that reflects that she waited I will be happy. Hmmm.... I don't think I require that anyone else get's less Kaidan in order for me to be happy. I just want the relationship to continue in a way that makes sense with how you have played the game, faithful gives one path. Unfaithful get's something different. And I would love to see how starting the romance in ME3 plays out. Is it Kaidan that tries to sweep Shep of her feet if she just hints at finaly realising that she loves him? That something I would be really happy to see. I see it more like being able to have a different happy relationship with my fav-LI. It's nice if not all my Sheps that wants to romance Kaidan will have the exact same path.

Of course we should get extra! Loyal Shepard should get a goddamn parade for staying single through ME2. A metal or something. There will be fireworks and music and cake and Kaidan popping out the said cake... Okay maybe I'm getting a little overboard...

Personally I rather Kaidan stay a friend for my Shep. I wanted him as a romance for my dude Shep at first but the more I think about it the more I feel that ship has sailed.

Much rather have a new character (or a romance like Joker for both Sheps) than for Kaidan to open up to dude Shep so late in the series. It could be done wonderfully I don't doubt. But it could also be done terribly.

Better to err on the side of caution.

Plus this way my Shep can go "Losing a limb? Really Kaidan?"

Hmmm.... well yes, I would be very surprised if they did make Kaidan available. But it wouldn't bother me if they did. Then I would have to go on youtube to see how that romance would turn out. But nahh.... don't think that they will do it.

Thanks for all the kind words!

Although I still think "I'll believe it when I see it ingame" when it comes to s/s relationships in ME3, I also think that the execution, whether it's with new characters or turning characters bi, will work or not work depending on the writing.

ME2 had spotty writing, frankly, but the places where it shone was in the portrayal of characters in one on one interaction with Shepard. I would be much more worried about how Shepard will be shown being brought back into the Alliance, and whether Shepard will show any emotion or have any choices when it comes to the main plot, than I would be when it comes to how romances are done.

I would be way more dismayed to see Horizon glossed over or ignored when meeting up with the Virmire Survivor again, than I would be to learn that a character who wasn't interested in Shepard before suddenly doesn't mind romance.

Nice to hear I'm not alone in field "having special romance-free character just to see if Kaidan will be available later". BTW no ME2 romances in all imports of said character.
Not necessary 'by-the-books marine', though. Mine is renegade (Council saved and base destroyed, though) who is worse in opening heart than Jack and Zev put together. In ME2 she finally understood how much she cares about Kaidan... but for now it's too late.
