Then I am really wondering how they get these statistics. Does it count how many players stayed loyal with their Shepards in ME2? This can't be taken serious, because players like to test different options and with the short Horizon cameo it is understandable if players tend to try the other LIs. But that doesn't mean that with ME3 or a Kaidan/Ashley DLC people will play ME1 or ME2 again to revive the romance with Kaidan or Ashley. And with the interpretation of statistics one has to be quite careful (I hope Bioware knows this too).
But we know that Bioware watch the fanbase - so they can easily see that their statistics cannot be really taken serious and that the players want to see more of Kaidan and Ashley.
From what I can tell from comments, the play statistics are ME2 only, so there is no, "People kept Kaidan and/or Ashley in their squad for [X] amount of [time/missions]" like there is with the ME2 squadmates, and they are pretty much measured by whether ME1 romance imports "cheated" or not. And since, allegedly, only 50% of the plays were imported, obviously there's gonna be a skewed number there.
Never mind that some of us don't have access to XBox live (or intentionally cut ME2's online connection).
There might have been some reflection on the vitriol of the old forums, but I wasn't there, so I couldn't say, except that couldn't have been hard numbers like the statistics seem to indicate, though.
And really, statistics means nothing if BioWare really wanted to be fair to all the LI's, like BW employees have been quoted as saying (even if it were just an "off the record" comment...).
Edit: For the top of the page, a touching moment.
