I'm keeping my fingers crossed that both VS are done justice in the end.

They are kinda dense IMO
I've come across most articles on ME3 that still think that Ashley is racist...

I just hope this sort of attitude "Kaidan gets some love but not a lot" won't result in underdeveloped character arc :/

We shouldn't read too much into it, though. Casey was backed into a corner by an incredily annoying interviewer and probably said the first thing he could think of which, admittedly, wasn't very tactful.

I'm almost entirely certain Casey Hudson's position on relative Virimire Survivor love comes directly from the metadata regarding that particular decision in Mass Effect 1.

Maybe so, but you have to take a look at the gender divide in the player base.  Those that play FemShep are in a minority, but I imagine Kaidan is far more popular among them than he is among players of ManShep.  And, while the ManShep playerbase may be much bigger, FemShep is still an option than Bioware has given us and I see no reason to diss her romance options.  I mean, given that she gets less play, her LIs are always going to be less popular in terms of pure numbers, but that doesn't mean those characters are less loved by the (still large) group of people who play FemShep.

True enough.  Like people have pointed out though, it's the interviewer who asked the question.  If the metadata had revealed differently - that Kaidan's popularity was greater than or equal to Ashley's - he could have responded in the negative right there.  I'm guessing that the data basically confirms the premise of the interviewer's assertion.

Would it have been better for Hudson to have said, "Our players have their favorites but we devote equal resources to both options" or something?  Sure.  But he simply agreed with the interviewer's premise and moved on to talking about the game.  The way these interviews come off leads me to believe that BioWare tries to stay on script and get back on it if led astray rather quickly.

You know, I said something nice to Casey earlier today on Twitter, and he thanked me.

Now - I wish I hadn't said it. I can't believe he just said that about Kaidan...

Well, he didn't say anything we didn't know already. Kaidan's fanbase is comparatively small.

It's okay Kaidan, what love you have is obviously better.

Permission to board?

Casey Hudson is so careful to stay on-message throughout his interviews, and he couldn't have held on to that long enough to show Kaidan some affection? I am disappoint.

Well Kaidan is alive in 4/6 of my ME2 games so don't let this petty interviewer get you down, Kaidan thread! :)

Same here, five of my six Shepards saved Kaidan over Ashley, and the one outlier only saved Ashley because he was in a romance with her!

Yeah noticed that yesterday as well, when questions were being asked about characters or RPG elements, Casey just started talking around it and after a few seconds continued with what he wanted to say before said questions without answering them really. Think he has the whole demo memorised and sticks to it so he doesn't give too many spoilers or says the wrong things and have stuff backfire, it's understandable.

Just wish Casey didn't take the bait in that interview and instead stood up for a character they created to begin with and will be returning in a lot of playthroughs. Again it doesn't matter for our games and ME3 experience and it's nothing we didn't know already but it's annoying.

But sometimes very vocal. I still remember Kaidan beating Tali in "one person who must return in ME3" poll. That was :D

Didn't catch the interview (was too busy chatting up Kaidan and taking pictures of things in ME1).  But I am reminded of last year's, "Nobody likes Kaidan," from that podcast.

... something of an improvement, I guess.

...ah well.  Can't complain when my Shepard's happy.  :innocent:

If anyone cares, they're asking on Facebook what screens fans would like to see next.  I've already voiced my desire for one of Kaidan instead of Ash during the "escape from Earth" segment.  Let them know how much we want to see this!  <3

I can't seem to find this interview with the interviewer and Casey. Can anyone post a link? Or tell me where to find it? :P

Also in defense of Casey, these show things are very taxing on people, I see it more as him just wanting to talk to the next thing already and just went with it for a min. I do that at work all the time when someone's talking my ear off and I just want to wrap things up and go home, or start actually working for that matter. :P

Thanks Helenovision, going to vote!

Its better for Casey to just agree and more on. Arguing with idiots only brings you down to their level.

Honestly Kaidan is more popular then we think. He might not be the most popular LI but he is by far not the least. His fan base is not as big as Garrus or Tali, but didn't we max out the last KAST at over 3000 pages. And this is what, our third thread? Also any time there is a poll he is beaten only barely by Tali. If anything it shows we are one of the most vocal fan base. They couldn't have ignored us.

The fact he was present in one of the first screen shots of the game is huge! There was little to no promo marketing for him even in ME1 release. Also that he will be returning as a major character in the epic endgame is also a big step, even if one of the reasons for that is he is attached to Ashley.

I know its hard to stay positive. I know we would have liked to see Kaidan be paraded next to Shep through all the demos but look at the love he has actually been getting: Kaidan was one of only 3 characters in ME2 that stared in a cutscene all to himself. Despite how you feel about Horizon, Bioware made it were he could not be killed in ME2. In ME:Genesis (Yes I'm not a huge fan of it at all but) he was present for at least 7 out of 23 page comic. That is actually more the Liara, Garrus, Tali, and Garrus. His role was elevated majorly for ME3, he is the galaxies second human Spectre and depending on how you played ME2, he might be the galaxies only human Spectre. He also made the cut for being a squadmate in ME3, which they have already said will be much smaller than ME2. I know these aren't the strongest arguments in the world. But you got to look at the little things.

ME3 is still a long way away, I reserve judgement and try to remain hopeful until I see what happens.
