it doesn't.  you just get a different cutscene.  to save salarians you need to disable the communications, fliers and security (I have a feeling I'm missing something)  basicaly - just take the long way around and help distraction teams every step of the way, like I'm assuming you usualy do

We've seen some awesome concept art for him in his new spectre gear. Someone posted magazine scans not too long ago. They were from PS3 magazine, I think? Someone might have to correct me on that one.

Honestly Kaidan is more popular then we think. He might not be the most popular LI but he is by far not the least. His fan base is not as big as Garrus or Tali, but didn't we max out the last KAST at over 3000 pages. And this is what, our third thread? Also any time there is a poll he is beaten only barely by Tali. If anything it shows we are one of the most vocal fan base. They couldn't have ignored us.

The fact he was present in one of the first screen shots of the game is huge! There was little to no promo marketing for him even in ME1 release. Also that he will be returning as a major character in the epic endgame is also a big step, even if one of the reasons for that is he is attached to Ashley.

I know its hard to stay positive. I know we would have liked to see Kaidan be paraded next to Shep through all the demos but look at the love he has actually been getting: Kaidan was one of only 3 characters in ME2 that stared in a cutscene all to himself. Despite how you feel about Horizon, Bioware made it were he could not be killed in ME2. In ME:Genesis (Yes I'm not a huge fan of it at all but) he was present for at least 7 out of 23 page comic. That is actually more the Liara, Garrus, Tali, and Garrus. His role was elevated majorly for ME3, he is the galaxies second human Spectre and depending on how you played ME2, he might be the galaxies only human Spectre. He also made the cut for being a squadmate in ME3, which they have already said will be much smaller than ME2. I know these aren't the strongest arguments in the world. But you got to look at the little things.

ME3 is still a long way away, I reserve judgement and try to remain hopeful until I see what happens.

Agreed. Like I said, that interview has no impact on our ME3 experience. It's not that huge a deal to me other than it being an annoyance which is directed more at IGN than Casey.
I'm still delighted we got to see Kaidan in the first promotion material against all expectations, I think most of us believed we would get nothing Kaidan got the magazine spread, Ashley got the demo in a nice "whoohooo" cutscene...I think we should be happy with the VS coverage so far, it sure beats anything I could have hoped for a few months ago. I expected absolutely nothing, I mean besides a quick website update with some generic Kaidan info shortly before ME2's release...it was very quiet where Kaidan was concerned back then.
The guy at IGN was stupid, but I'm still over the top excited for the game...in fact I need to calm down lol

Hello, good people!
I don't post in this thread (even though I checked it out it quite often), but recent events made me to show you my support. I feel your pain about what Casey said to that stupid interwiever mainly because it was not THEIR place to judge. Every decision that we made in our games are completely valid (or at least the devs claim so), so I don't see why we should be diss for it. I would be dissappoint if they were mocking any other character (even the ones I'm not particulary fond of). It's just disrespectful and unnecessary.
I'm not saying that Casey is some Kaidan-hating moster, but he should have been more careful with the choice of words. If he would say something similar about my favourite character, I would be furious. Plus, I don't agree that Kaidan is not popular. I like him a lot and I save him in the majority of my playthroughs.
To conclude, I like your ability to rally and I hope you won't get too upset by people who can't even spell his name or keep confusing him with James Vega.  I hope that Kaidan will show everybody what he's capable of in the end.

It would have been more true of Casey to say that Kaidan's fanbase or support is smaller than Ashley's. I do see plenty of Kaidan love on the forums.

The sad thing is, I fully expect that Kaidan will still get less content than Ashley, because that's how it's always been and "not a whole lot of love for Kaidan" doesn't really lend much faith for me to expect that they'll change the trend.

The guy's an ass, but I agree with Red and Jho. Casey -imo- handled it well enough, he kept looking at the guy like "Shut up dude", and just moved on.

But you guys, Kaidan has never had that many fans from the very beginning. Sure we're not a 'small' group, but as someone here said(I'm too lazy to scroll up and check) we're not as big as Garrus or Tali or whatever.

Did it ever affect our game experience? no.

Does it matter? I want to say no too.

Simply because we love him, we keep him alive in our games, we give him due respect not just because he's hot (that is a part of it sure) but because he's a generally well written, well developed character.

Haters gonna hate, we just have to stay positive. Kaibear is getting a huge role, and we're getting him back as permanent squaddie, that's all that matters.

People are so dim sometimes. amount of times they are sure that it's not Kaidan.

To be honest I got a little confused by this one picture, too.

Because this is not really Kaidan to me. I prefer ME1 Kaidan.
He's still hot in this picture, mind you. If  Vega looked like that I'd romance him after all (not with my Kaidan femShep of course).
But I don't like the idea of a total make-over.
Not sure I like the new Ashley, either.

To me that is just an artist's interpretation of Kaidan. I see Kaidan when I look at that. When I draw Kaidan he doesn't look exactly like he does in game put I get the point a cross enough for most people to tell who it is.

That's how it works imo. If the screenshot of Kaidan from ME3 we saw showed a radically different Kaidan I would be worried, but he got some texture upgrades and new armor...and is still hot

I think people just want Kaidan to be James because Kaidan just looks amazing in his new armor and he might be dead in their playthroughs. So if James is a new romance option, they might want him to look like Kaidan I read that James looks and is build like an American Football player, looks about right lol

I just think it's wishful thinking for the most part, get the looks from Kaidan without the character behind it most people dislike *shakes head* Or maybe the whole idea of Kaidan looking THAT badass clashes with people's views of his character and thus it cannot be!! No idea though, it's silly

If only....while the Origins Alistair was adorable, I didn't like having to handwalk him through the game in the non-romantic, kind-of-a-chore, rapidly-getting-annoying, I-am-too-old-for-that, kind of way But I have a weakness for stoic characters though.

And yes concept art is fun to look at, kinda makes you wonder how Kaidan ended up being Kaidan if you look at it lol But from what I understand, they had model screenings back then so they randomly picked a face to go with the character I guess. Imo, they picked well

I remember Casey saying something about the guy who modeled for Joker, seeing him later at Starbucks or something. Miranda is the only person who actually looks like her voice actor. Yes somewhere out there, there is a guy who looks like Kaidan.

Yes, it's the same kind of trailer quality art as Sheploo. In-game graphics are diffrent, I know.
I was just confused because on the other pic with Shepard and Liara he looks a lot like he did before. No confusion there. Basically like a high quality version of in-game ME1 Kaidan with a different hairstyle.
Or is the pic I posted *fan* art??

We don't know what he looks like in the game yet, do we?
I didn't spot him in the E3 videos. Was very disappointed about that.
