Maybe they did it on purpose so that no one would want to play ME1.  So they would be more likely to move on from Kaidan, Ashley, and Liara to more compelling LI's after getting to know them so well in their two minutes of screen time, or something. 

In all honesty, I suspect that Genesis is merely how Walters sees ME1.  I doubt any of it was malicious, it just... wasn't a very good job, probably on a deadline, and no one had time to look it over.  There are a lot of graphical hiccups to it, too.



I admit, I'm curious to know whether Kaidan is spelled Kaidan or Kaiden in the romance decision for FemShep.
