That and everyone can see it if they click on the forums. I highly doubt that the devs browse the character threads and putting that in our name would be a good way to speak up.

Exactly.  Though we don't need "good."  He needs to be a badass.  Kaidan "The Kid" Alenko.

But then won't they think that we like that? :?

Speaking personally, I want Kaidan "The Sweetheart" Alenko back.

Sure, Kaidan falls under my personal definition of badassery, but ME2 had enough malplaced attitude to fill the entire franchise.

They're dumb enough to think we like it anyway.    But if it's "the Kid"  we might be able to knock a hole in that theory that he's useless and whiny.

Renaming the thread would only makes sense to a select few people imo, to others it may seem as if we actually like the whole Kid thing. It's like officially giving Kaidan a nickname if you ask me. It's like an inside joke, a lot won't get it.

I don't think I can pretend any more about a lot of things.

Maybe a new Kaidan / Alexis hug would help?

*picsnippage*

or one of these?

Awww. Your Shep don't waste time on Horizon. Mine neither.

Aaaand, yes, I approve of Fort's idea of renaming the thread :D

That's Sapphy's Shepard Alexis.  From Everything's Not Fine and The Shepard Project.

And yes, Sia's "The Kid" idea is genius.  But I have always supported Kaidan in Wrangler's, boots, and a cowboy hat a la Timothy Olyphant in, well, almost everything he's in.    I <3 me some Old West Lawman style Alenko.

This is what I'd be worried about.

For comparison: How'd the "Calibrations" thing go with Garrus fen and that thread title?  I got the impression that it was either endearing or sarcastic, but I never knew which.  :?

A little of both.  We make fun of Garrus as much as adore on him.

And really, if we don't laugh at the stupid comic we're all going to go crazy... *shrugs*

My attempts to articulate my irritation/anger/depression at that comic and Kaidan's description are an utter fail. Slamming my head against my desk does not alleviate the pain.

If that is Mac Walters perception of Kaidan then all my hopes for any VS DLC and ME3 have just died. I have an urge to write a fic where a character named Mack Walters-Chudson who has only a blatant resemblance to any living or dead person connected to ME is vilified. In Phoenix Armor.

Oh, and the whole pseudo film noir/hard-boiled detective narrative style of the comic was an utter fail for me. It made Shepard sound like a complete jerk.

My two cents on the thread title change to add "The Kid"...not a fan. There are already so many misconceptions out there about Kaidan I'd rather not reinforce them. Or in any way validate Mac Walters' shoddy mistaken impression that Kaidan is Jenkins.

Yeah, I guess Jaer is right. We don't want them to think that we actually liked that crap.

~sigh~ You're right. It would require more perception than the authors of that comic possess to realize it was a dig at that piece of crap.

Someone like Weekes (if he's as good as people say) could still do the DLC or Kaidan/Ashley content.  Whatever idiocy Walters or whoever is in charge of main plot decisions cooks up could still be handled competently by a good writer/editor.

... although, I also like your fic idea.  ^_^

There are good writers working for BioWare and with the ME team. I have no idea how all that talent keeps consistently churning out dreck for ME2 in relation to the world and characters they set up in ME1. It's mind boggling. No one writes junk on purpose, after all.

I still hope they'll tie it together better than we expect in ME3, but I'm already planning on ways to improve the story in my head afterwards. Because I'm really starting to think it'll need it.

Well, that's why we have The Shepard Project, isn't it?

That right there is the reason I wasn't thrilled with adding the nickname.
I don't think we take ourselves too seriously here, most of the time, but I also think that for any hetero male the KAST is the scariest thread on the BSN so I have great fears they'd see "The Kid" in the thread title and think we love it without bothering to read the actual thread comments on it.

Thanks for that mental image. Just saw some kid being forced to enter this thread on a Dare he lost, kicking and screaming  "NOOOOOO, not that place!!!...I beg you, let me bungee jump without a cord....anything but the Kaidan Alenko Support Thread!!" :P

Sorry vivid imagination ;) But.....that story you mentioned Jaer....I would LOVE to read that!!!!!!!

Does anyone know who wrote the Dark Horse interactive comic? I sincerely doubt it was one of the core writers, it sounds like it was cobbled together by the Marketing department or something. Clearly whoever wrote it had not played ME1, or hadn't played it in several years. So facepalmingly bad.

It was introduced as, "Written by Mac Walters," by one of the PR folks in some interview/announcement somewhere.  (I'll see if I can dig it up again).

Edited for More Info:

This post in the PS3 Comic Preview post quotes and links to the post that Jesse Houston allegedly made (?), but I can't double check because the ME General Forum is currently hating my soul and barring my access.

Ha!

Jesse Houston wrote...

Yes, Dark Horse is working with us to make the Interactive Comic :) Mac also wrote the comic (he wrote the other ones as well).

Night is always around, you just need look.

Love you all. We'll do lunch. If you want my attention... read the prompts and vote.

I am very happy with Kaidan Alenko. It says it all.
