Caden is an old irish surname that was come into forename usage. It means "Little Battle." It officially has several variants of spelling, Kaden, Kadan, Caiden and Cayden.

I think this is where they got the idea for the name Kaidan from. It is honestly used pretty often in modern times. My husband said he went to school up in Vermont with a Kaden and Caiden. One was actually girl.

Some history on the name:

The original name was McCadden, which was from an old Gaelic name Mac Cadáin. Mac Cadáin roughly translates to "Son of Cadán".

Cadán was taken from an even OLDER name Cathán.

Cathán is composed of elements from the Gaelic language. "Cath" is Gaelic for Battle, and "án" is a diminutive suffix, which is where is gets the meaning "Little Battle"

I think the comic is a PS3 exclusive. You might be able to find a version on Youtube where Kaidan is picked.

@Jho -- All the squee has already been expressed, but still gonna add to it! I'm in awe of how professional looking the picture is. It could so easily be one of the promos released by the company. That's how great it looks. Fantastic job with the framing, the pose, the angle, the positioning of the logo/text and so on. It's just pure eye candy to look at.

Finally did a femShep w/ Kaidan as LI in ME1. I liked it. This girl, Erica Shepard, was Earthborn/Ruthless and pretty much started the game as a hardass b*tch, but by the end of the game, she had lightened up quite a lot. A lot of that was Kaidan's doing. She did get him to loosen up, so I suppose they helped each other out a bit. I RP her as somewhat regretful of Torfan and there at the end, right before Ilos, it was really weird, but I think Erica felt he was too good for her. She shagged him anyway. It should be interesting to take her through ME2. I think she wants to remain faithful, but Horizon may throw a wrench into that plan. I'll see, I guess. Anyway, just wanted to share. I know there are a few here from the femShep board.

That's so interesting that you say that because I played my canon Shepard very similiar to yours. Mine was a hardass and usually showed no quarter. I liked Kaidan, but they were so wildly different in their approaches to things (she had more in common with Garrus!) that I didn't know if they really fit, y'know? They didn't even agree in the end of ME1 about sacrificing the council for the greater good. So I kept an open mind when ME2 rolled around, unsure if I'd switch to a different LI. The conversation at Horizon just floored me and I realized, YES, they were meant for each other because he absolutely was the ying to her yang. I realized how well they balanced each other out, that they didn't need to be similiar at all. Garrus really was just the guy she'd have a beer while Kaidan was the guy she went home to. If that makes sense. I know Horizon is a dealbreaker for a lot of people, but it's actually what sealed the deal for me. (It's actually my favorite part in all of ME2, lol. =D)

To answer the question about Alenko... no, I don't think it's a typical Canadian surname but even now there's a lot of immigration that means a lot of people have heritage from countries other than their country of birth.  Is it time to dust off the old conversation about what ethnicity (besides sexy) Kaidan might be?

I am pretty sure they said they would be releasing it later on down the line for XBOX and PC users as well through the cerberus network.

But honestly he could past for any darker complected ethnicity. I've heard everything from Italian to Asian. I would be curious to ask the bioware design team what did they have in mind while designing him.
