Hi all

I have a small problem with the achievements in ME2, but to start from and end.

Back in december i decided that my computer needed a reinstall of windows, i take a backup of the save files to ME1 and ME2 and deletes the computer thinking i saved everything. Now it turns out that after i used my backups to recreate my save games, all the achievements are gone. :crying:

So to the bottum of my question. Are these achievements just lost or are they saved online somewhere? I did logon to both games with my account to the cerberus network, and thought that would sync. the achievements but unfortunatelly.. i was wrong.

I hope someone can help me out

in advance, thanks

yours faithfully
Martinta

Achievements are saved in a file, Documents/Mass Effect 2/BIOGame/Profile/Player1.prf

There is no on-line achievement storage like with DAO.

In the future, make sure to back up the file Savormix cites. But if there's no way to access it now, I'm afraid they're gone.

Its not like the ME2 acheivements actually do anything. ME1 they had a purpose, unlocking extra weapons or abilities. ME2 is just ego stroking.

Well, a few of them do. There's one for completing the game that grants an XP bonus, letting you level faster on new playthroughs. Also, I believe the loyalty achievements are how the game determines which bonus powers you can pick; with all of those done, you can have your choice of a bonus talent from the beginning.

Long Service Medal gives +25% XP.
Loyalty achievements each add a bonus power for you to select when starting.

All others... useless.

I also recently lost all achievements, and I am not exactly sure how it happened.  I don't go up to the captains quarters often but i recently did and noticed that many of my older achievements were gone, including the "recruited X" and gained X's loyalty ones. Then it dawned on me that that's why i couldn't switch back to the bonus power I had previously (I used the advanced training option to try a different one and wanted to swap back later)  I'd assumed maybe you only had so much time after earning their loyalty to use their power.

OK. so my question.  I don't care much for achievement medals but is the lack of having the loyalty achievements going to impact more of the game play in ME2 and ME3?  Is the story line going to be altered?  In reading through other threads i unfortunately stumbled upon the SPOILER that not having earned loyalty determines whether some crew live or die at some point in the game END SPOILER.  Is not being able to earn those loyalty achievements going to affect that portion of the plot?

I believe crew status is saved per career and not per profile.

I'm guessing your Player1.prf file somehow became corrupted or deleted during your playthrough. ME2 will generate a new one if a proper one isn't available, therefore starting you back at 0 achievements.

Savormix is correct, you should be fine. Whether a squadmember shows as Loyal in the squad info/selection screen is what matters for just about everything besides bonus talents.

Well maybe a hardship in ME3 (carrying on...)

I am hoping to save my 3 main charators, one I even re-instaled M1 and dang computer freezes (the digital security bug). Would be upset if I had to re-do anyone of the 3 (3 of 6-10 I played [ME2])
