Once, I let it go to Eden Prime before I tried to save. However the trio of characters stared at the red horizon, and not a single button worked. What should I do?

Forgot to mention: 2.4 GHz rated at 5.8 GHz, 3.2 GB of RAM, GeForce 9800 GTX+, Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
I think that's a total lie unless you are cooling your system with liquid nitrogen. The heat from that would have burnt out the CPU and probably everything else in there which is maybe why your game does not work
That number would break the world record for that processor which i believe is 5,112 MHz

I'm afraid I have no idea as regards your problem, Drago.

All of the details we need to help troubleshoot are listed in the "how To" thread, listed here;

Youve given us half the information we need, please provide the rest.

I believe some hardware info programs will try to come up with a clockspeed "rating" for multicore processors, based on the per-core clock * number of cores * some modifier for multicore inefficiency. It doesn't really mean much, but I imagine Drago_King was just passing that along. (Edit: i.e.: that CPU isn't overclocked at all. Note the inclusion of @ "2.40 Ghz" at the end.)

I wasn't really thinking that at the time but i guess that makes sense. Made me laugh anyways

I'm guessing either overheating (no pun intented) or missing/corrupt files in the game install. But that's a guess.

And to Drago King is this the only game stuff like that has happened in? Need to establish if it's the computer or the game that's faulty.

When I play TF2, the game skpis for a few seconds every 10 minutes or so.
I got ME working to the point where I see the first bulbous alien sacs, but when I kill it, it crashes to the desktop, and it sometimes even makes me restart my whole computer.
About the processor rating, that's jsut what http://www.systemreq...tslab.com/cyri/ told me when I looked to see if I could run it.
Sorry for late reply, I was watching the Saints game.

Even if you were cooling your system with LN as moondoggie mentioned, overclocking isnt exaclt supported, as that tends to cause minor issues to become major ones in a hurry.

I'll post the rest:
1. It’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.
a. Is it the console version or the PC version? (Edit: Most of this is strictly applicable to the PC version.)
PC, obviously.
b. Media: physical disk or digital download (and which vendor)
Digital, Steam.
2. System Details
a. Processor / Core count / Core Speed / Main RAM Amount
b. Display Adapter / VRAM / Driver Version (just saying "latest drivers" doesn't help -- Edited: only ATI / nVIDIA cards are supported)
c. Sound Adapter / Driver Version
d. Operating System (& service pack if applicable)
e. Direct X Version
Already mentioned most, but DirectX 10.0 and Windows 7.
3. Problem Details
a. When it comes to problem details, think about the five basic
questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? Okay, so “Who?” doesn’t really
apply here, but the others do.
b. What? What is the nature of the problem that you’re seeing?
c. When? When does the problem occur? Every time you engage in a particular action or only after so many hours of play?
d. Where? Where does the problem occur? Is the problem localized to a particular planet or does it occur everywhere?
e. Why? As much as possible, can you isolate the problem to a specific set of steps?
Already mentioned everything else, I believe.

Did you do a default install, or custom? ME can have problems with saves if they arent in the default location.
Running with admin rights? UAC could be preventing the files from being written to disk. Run in windowed mode, hit save, and use alt-tab to see if UAC is bringing anything uyp in the background.
Other things to try:
Set CPU affinity to Single
Download the game from EA's distribution channel (wont have to pay for it as you already have a registration code)

To start with, try re-installing DirectX9.0c. ME and ME2 specifically requires that version. Can run on later versions, but errors are known to occur. Also, download and install the 1.02 patch. Steam -should- have installed both of these, but given the amount of other Steam related issues people are having with ME & ME2 at the moment, I wouldnt trust them as far as I could throw them.

I'll download 9.0 right after this post, along with 1.02 thanks for the advice with that.
I did a default installstation.
Yep and yep.
I'll do the rest now.
