The whole god-baby thing makes her transcend Origins and keeps her important in the series until we learn how that turns out. So for me it's gonna be hard to see Isabella in the same way unless she is relevant to more of the timeline than this one episode.
Love her or hate her. Morrigan is hard to ignore.
This.
While I have every confidence in Bioware delivering some top notch NPCs that I find compelling and desire to spend time with, Morrigan's place in the DA is going to be hard to overlook.
I have no doubt Bioware can deliver an NPC (or multiple NPCs) who are as well written and interesting as Morrigan was as an individual, but there was a sense in DAO of a much larger story at work. That as looming and immediate as the blight was, should the blight be conquered there were big things on the horizon and Morrigan was a part of them. It made DAO feel almost as much Morrigan's story as the Warden's. And to the writers et al, thats not a complaint. I loved DAO.
As for Isabella, there always seems to be a female "lead" whether labeled as such or not. Morrigan had more of her story/romance/etc integreated into DAO than Leliana for example. Miranda seemed to be favored with more reference and screen time than say Jack or Tali. So if Isabella is this NPC -as she does seem to be from the marketing- I'm sure she will be equally interesting. And given how enthusiastic Sheryl has been about writing her, I'm guessing we're in for a treat. When a writer is excited about writing something, it usually turns out well.
The only downside is as stated above, Morrigan as an NPC felt so important to the DA larger story, it added an intangeible to her as NPC that was unmatched by any other in DAO (IMO) and likely difficult to match by any of the revealed companions thus far.
All that said it will be nice to have someone along who isn't such a b*tch all the time.
