My first playthrough is always a sweetness and light type. My second, however is 'pragmatic'. And by pragmatic, I mean she'd screw over almost anyone if it's easier and gets her more money that way.
I can't choose 'evil' options when it comes to family (or the equivalent) though: I couldn't side with the templars as a mage, or side with the werewolves as a Dalish, and I could never betray Soris and Shianni in the City Elf origin and then sacrifice the Warden's dad in the Tevinter blood magic ritual. That's just too evil. So, Carver/Bethany are probably safe from backstabbing... unless they deserve it
