Honestly, there's a lot worse voice actors out there, he does what he was casted to do and he does it well.

I highly doubt this.

I don't even remember who that guy is. In fact today was the first day I saw discussion about this subject on the forums.

Mark Meer= Commander Shepard VA. Probably people are just grasping for new information about ME3 and have resorted to nit-picking about some pretty stupid things.

Oh. I don't mind Shepard's VA.

What I don't like though is how female shepard has the animations of male shepard. Makes her look so manly.

The weird thing is when you start off playing as female, and then switch to a male Shep and all of a sudden ManShep is moving like FemShep... it's incredibly creepy. /offtopic

I'm not a huge fan of his voice, but it's not bad or anything. It fits the character just fine, IMO.

Yeah, he's no Brandon Keener or whoever VA's Tali, but he gets the job done.

Mark Meer is a talented and able voice actor, but I think he's been directed to voice DudeShep in that manner. Alot of people dislike it.

I admit, I wasn't a fan of his Shep voice at first, but it grew on me. I still prefer Jennifer Hale's Shep voice tho. And yeah, Mark Meer is a very good VA himself.

Nothing wrong with Mark Meer, guy is funny and cool. ManShep on the other hand, not a fan.

I hope they let him do more work like he did in LotSB, those scenes were cool, IMHO.

I haven’t liked his voice sense 1 he’s too unemotional there is very little times he has inflection to his voice for para and neutral shep! I’ve heard a few ren lines and I can tell there if he’s kidding but nothing for the other two! Though I can now say he’s finally starting to show some inflection with the SB during his banter with Liara I could finally hear him joke! For the most part I feel during 1 and 2 that he saw the script and I could hear him as though he was reading the script. I’ve done script reading before and know that it’s not easy but once you have people around you hearing you talk they’ll say hey you need to pick it up here or no don’t be so forceful there I feel like he has no input and is recording it in a closet or something where he can’t hear himself at all and no one tells him he’s to robotic. Fshep has more inflection and feeling in her voice for the most part a few lines I find her too unemotional but mostly she does well.

And this...Meer is great with his volus and vorcha and I think he's a very good VA, but I personally dislike his Shepard.  It's not his fault, though.

Most of the flat dialogue that Meer delivers is due to a lack of proper context. Remember that they have to record hundreds or thousands of lines of dialogue. However everyone has their favorite. I prefer maleshep, but there is a sizable fanbase that does not. I think they do exaggerate the differences somewhat. They are both very good VO actors.

i didn't like the male shepard's VA, tbh. he wasn't awful, but everyone else just sounded better. my 2nd playthru, i switched to fem shepard, and I was pleasantly surprised that her VA sells the lines much better. i'm going fem shep for any other future play thrus.

I like Meer and Hale's Voice acting equally and they both do wonderful jobs I just wish Hale got some trailers.

He was either directed to be inoffensively generic or picked because that's how he sounds.

Either way, Hale gets to be more interesting.

I think Meer said in an interview somewhere that he deliberately voices Shepard as neutral so he's more consistent. If you pick a Renegade response followed by a Paragon response, there's no schizophrenic voice change.

I love Hale but it was jarring for my Renegade Femshep to suddenly alter her voice mid-conversation whenever I picked a Paragon option. For that reason I prefer MaleShep's VA to be honest.

For me it's not so much that Meer is bad, it just so happens Hale is very popular among fans and most of FemShep's lines have better delivery than MaleShep this isn't Meer's fault tbh and I say this as someone who plays both.

The quality of Meer's and Hale's va is totally subjective, and up to personal preference.  I think that most of your criticsm comes from those who resent the fact that Male Shepard (Vanderloo) is the face of the franchise.  By extension, Meer is the voice of the face of the franchise.  It could be the greatest male voice actor in the history of the world, and the most debonair attractive male model in the history of the world, but I think that you would still face the same level of resentment as long as he's the face/voice of the franchise, and femshep/Hale is not.
