Does anyone else find the Hammerhead to be a little inane? It's difficult to control and the fact that it only hovers/jumps rather than flies drives me nuts. That it has limited firing capabality also is a major drawback. Couldn't we have gotten something just a tad bit better?

It's better than the Mako, if only slightly... although that might be simply better terrain rather than the vehicle itself handling better. (because the Hammerhead doesn't go roaming across random planets' surfaces)

But it gets really hot in the Hammerhead sometimes!
What am I supposed to use to cool off!?

I liked it. Needs some tuning for ME3...more armor/shields...better weapons...the ability to land/step outside at will and wander around...but overall I liked it.

I could compromise with the jumping thing provided that there are better weapons and shielding for ME3 if it makes it into the next game.

Is it wrong to love the mako?

It's possible they were testing the waters with the HammerHead in ME2 ( heh, bad joke). It may well be much improved in ME3. Otherwise, I'd just get rid of it.

I liked Mako, the crazy jumps and 90 degree slopes. Always imagined my squaddies inside, mueheheee
Hammerhead is't a bad, just needs some improvements like ability to save game while flying and step outside whenever you want.

Given a choice between the two, I'd rather the Mako. You didnt risk death by running into a long blade of grass at high speed.
The main problem with the Mako was that people were too lazy to look for a proper path to take, and complanied about places being impossible to get to. Eletania is a good example. You can try and drive up and over near vertical cliffs to get to the silver orb, or you can take one look at the map, and work out a logical, if roundabout path to take to get there. The silent majority decided to look at teh map. The very vocal minority decided to go in a straight line, and then whinge about it extremely loudly. These are the same type of people you read/hear about in the news, when they blindly follow their GPS onto railroad tracks, up goat paths, and the like.

Why can't the mako and the hammerhead be friends? Why?
So one doesn't have armor and the other can't fly. So one got awful terrain and the other got awesome terrain. So one can fight armatures head on and the other must play hide and seek with them for fear of asploding. Can't we love them both? Where's the love, y'all.

Mako was fine - it was the terrain which sucked at times. Hammerhead was a pogo stick, and the maps were awful platform games. Free exploration with Mako was fun on Rachni planets, Virmire,Ilos etc. Driving around exploring open maps was excellent gameplay change.
ME2's probe mining was a brain fart.

Brain fart would be a mild way to put it.

i too am definately NOT a fan of hammerheads. i dont know about inane, but a good friend of mine was killed a few months back by one. it was a dreadful time in my town, his parents and sister used to come over and cry about him to my parents. god it was depressing. for a while i used to take my boat out and chum the waters. when hammerheads would show up, i'd just pull out my 9mm and start shooting them. i dont think i killed any, but i kind of like to think i shot the one who killed my friends

When a mission involves the Hammerhead, I curse aloud and hand the controller off.
That said, I know a lot of people enjoy it. Different playstyles, I guess.

Aside from handling and speed, The Hammerhead is worse than The Mako in every respect. On top of it all I just find it hard to believe as a proper, realistic exploration vehicle from a realism point of view. To me it's a farce of a vehicle logically, and clearly something made and designed specifically for silly little platforming sections in overly-designed gamey locations in a game. Getting into it feels like I've gone from the Mass Effect universe and into the world of Crash Bandicoot or something.

I love the Hammerhead, They could always mayb add a few more layers of tinfoil so it wouldn't fall apart from a strong breeze. The only thing wrong with the firewalker pack were the missions themselves imo, not the Hammerhead.

They need to give us everything they did with the mako, add the hover functions of the Hammerhead and increase the cannon refire rate as well as the shield regen rate, lower the total amount of shields a little and it would be a PERFECT vehicle.
I honestly don't know how they screwed something this easy so badly.

Good control, but it's homing missiles are lame, it needs a machine gun. Plus, it's armour, or lack thereof, is appallingly useless. One thing I do prefer from ME1 to ME2 is the mako, but only on the story missions-climbing moutains with that thing was not fun.

This. Hammerhead even eclipses all of the Halo vehicles combined.

I did the same thing when I had to drive the Mako.
Yes, the Hammerhead is better than the Mako, if only slightly. The planet exploration became...boring and tedious. It was nice for Ilos, Noveria, and Ferros, but landing on "random planet X" and exploring the entire thing? The novelty wore off rather quickly with me. Give me planet scanning any day as opposed to that.
Anyway, the Hammerhead just needs to be fine tuned. Give it some better shields and maybe an alternate gun or something and it'll be all good.
