Now, I realize that Shepard is a badass capable of snatching ****** of any species, but I thought it might be interesting if our crew members and squad-mates had deeper friendships, romances, and rivalries that do not involve Shepard.

If anyone here has played KotOR 2, an Obsidian game, you will remember that when the player character was off the ship, you were able to see your crew mates interact in brief cutscenes.

I find it much more immersive to consider that things are going on aboard the Normandy that I have no control over. Perhaps I return from a mission and there is a short, flirty cutscene between Jacob and Kasumi, or maybe Garrus is down in the cargo bay working on his hand-to-hand.

Thoughts?

Nice to see the first time around, but very irritating if you want to do further playthroughs.

Er, why would it be irritating?

I'm all for the idea.  It's weird to me that they just stay cooped up in their little rooms.

Jacob+Miranda should be together. Jacob kind of hints he likes her.

I have multiple characters to play the game with, and seeing certain things for the umpteenth time will make me roll my eyes in terms of how tired I am with some of the cutscenes (note: I am *NOT* a cutscene skipper.)

You can always just hit the space bar to skip a cut scene you already have watched....

Even tho the game is about Shepard, it wouldn't hurt to show more interaction between the crew, it would help add some depth to them so they don't feel like cardboard cutouts.

Seth Green is pretty funny as Joker, I would love to see more interactions between him and the crew.

Characters forming relationships independent of Shepard is very interesting for me, as it allows additional characterization for those characters. We see how they react to Shepard, who they clearly respect, but what about the people who are more of their equals on the ship? How do they interact with them? Or the no-name Cerberus officers - most of the squad isn't all that fond of Cerberus, so how come they only complain about it to Shepard, the guy who brought them on to the ship staffed by Cerberus?

In fact, that last one could have been a shipboard assignment, where you have to smooth relations between your alien crewmates and the pro-human Cerberus crew.

Probably because most of them have their own set of duties on ship. Shepard can free roam but they can't. This would be Miranda, Garrus, Tali, Jacob, and Mordin. How long are they at their posts, then go on missions, and find time to sleep/eat. Grunt just seems anti-social. Samara seems as a 1000 year old Asari into self-contemplation. Thane is a self-confessed loner as an assassin usually is. Jack who would want to interact with her really. Legion is a geth so yeah explains that.

I think it would be awesome if someone is also interested in your LI. Could make for some nice chatting. :)

Like Kotor 2, I would love squadmates to talk to each other on the ship.

Well I argree, but even the way they did it in ME1 would have worked for me. Through squad banter and elevator chats alone I got a sense of the other characters interacting with each other, which I really liked. In ME2 the only time anyone interacted was when they had a fight (Miranda/Jack, Tali/Legion). They just all seemed so disconnected with each other in ME2.

Maybe there should be a 'social' area on the Normandy you can enter and see the characters interact with each other.

Wouldn't that be Kasumi's room?  It does have a bar and plenty of places to sit.  I like how they did it in DA and don't see why that couldn't be done in ME as well.

Having more squad interaction is never a bad thing in my book. Granted, the game is supposed to showcase Shepard, because that's who the player is playing, but I really liked the DA model of squad banter. Friendships or hate "ships" between squaddies would be a great next step.

I agree with OP but if Garrus or anyone is sparring down in cargo hold I want a minigame to fight them kind of like ACB did which the rings you could do all your moves it was just Ezio shirt off fighting hand to hand w/ competitors. I'd like to see Mshep shirt off and jean and Fshep in casual workout gear but we get to pick her outfit before the game starts sense girls can be picky on what they wear some prefer baggy clothing while others want pants and a workout short top.

The more immersion the better thats the kind of game Mass Effect is, its not Call of Duty. If you get bored by it don't play it!

I've been wondering about this for a while, ever since I found out about Kasumi liking Jacob (I don't have that DLC, so I only know about it from these forums). It'd be pretty cool and I definitely think it'd add some depth. Or even if it wasn't separate cutscenes, but if they'd at least move around a bit and talk to each other... or at least more talking to each other when they're on your squad, as opposed to primarily just talking to Shepard.

Actually, I'd just plain like them to move around a bit. Like why can't Miranda come up to the CIC once in a while? It'd make them harder to find, but you could just ask Kelly or something. Or at the very least, move around in their area, like sometimes Jack sits on the stairs or Mordin works somewhere else in the lab.

It'd also make for more interesting romances! And... come on, why can't two of my squaddies end up together? I think it'd be pretty cool, actually. If it'd be too difficult to work out the romance plots with that, just make that particular squadmate unromanceable. Not everyone has to want to sleep with Shepard...

I always felt Jacob/Miranda should have the chance to be together, if neither one is pursued by Shep, then they get together. They seem like a good fit.

Also, Tali and Kal'Reegar... I thought they would be great together as well. Again, it would be something that triggers if Shep doesn't pursue Tali.

Kasumi and Joker might be able to work something out. I think she is limber and flexible/acrobatic enough that she could manage certain activities and not hurt the boy...
