Well that's no fun. I rather enjoyed my dark-skinned Cousland standing awkwardly beside her snow-white parents, wondering which one of them had been naughty
Which one...? Wouldn't it be obvious if Lady Cousland birthed the children or not? Lady Cousland did enjoy those trips abroad...amongst the Chasind.

Well Bryce could have had a tryst with a maid and then Eleanor consented to raising the baby out of the goodness of her heart... or because Bryce has her brainwashed... or something...

Your family will always have black hair.
Any reason for that? Not a big thing, but still seems kind of odd if you make a pasty recessive gene laden red head or blonde Hawke and yet the family has black hair.
Black hair works realistically on all skin tones, while blonde hair looks "off" on darker skin tones. As such, you can customize Hawke however you like, but your family will have black hair.
So that means we can't have a decent tan with blond hair? Curse you Bioware genetics!!!

I was thinking the step child trope.

This and several other reasons are why Bioware needs to get some facts to the public sooner. That is a cool feature.
We prefer to be certain that they work before we go telling the world that we have a feature we have to cut before ship. Underpromise and overdeliver if possible; it's why I still haven't actually confirmed the hide helmet feature, even though it's in, tested and working.
Just to be clear: still not confirmed.

Helmets never bugged me. I always loved getting the strongest helmet and having the rpg equipiness rush through me.

Hey, I'm just glad you and the rest of the DA2 team take so much time out to post here on the forums.
One thread here gets more dev posts than 25 threads in the ME side. And the occasional dev post from the ME team is already a great contribution.
Imagine what people must think of all the posts on this side.
I'd pat you on the back and give you a personal thank you, but I have YET to be invited to your workplace. GAH.

Still got the rpg-ness going.
But personally, they didn't look that bad. I mean, I'd rather look at gandalf hats, but it's not like we ever see the hats close up, just in combat.

Man I wonder if this approach will be executed if Spacer Shepard were to see their mother.

Seriously the changes of Hawke's family members go beyond skin tone? I mean I was totaly fine with just skin, but the faces structures and hair go along with your customizing? This is just more icing on an already delicous cake. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

Which honestly I must say I find weird.
The actual facial structure of your siblings changes based on your appearance but not their hair colour?

I got to agree with this guy.. I wanted to make a blonde guy, but being the only one amongst dark hairs .. Well, if there isnt a dad around I could pretend he is blonde? <.<;
Meh might just stick with default hawk look like in mass effect. Though I hate the typical Dark haired hero crap -.- Make a blonde one for once bioware please!

Blonde is recessive though, so it can show up even if the parents don't have it. I knew a family that had neither parents blonde, but two out of three kids were the brightest natural blonde you'd ever seen.mr_luga wrote...

And I agree with this guy. I always make my first RPG character a male blonde. Then its a female redhead. Don't know why, just do! Though people have commented that my first Shepard looks like a scary SS recruiting poster. Probably the freaky ass jawline and Arnie style forehead. Sadly he doesn't support Cerberus.
Oh well, next time we may get a blonde hero...natural of course! No peroxides...Or I suppose the DA equivelant, "Enchantment?".

Surely the character's look/race are integral components of the characters and things that weren't decided upon in a whim and shouldn't be subjected to such tinkering?
I guess it's not really dependant on look/race because they're culturally Fereldan (even if ma Hawke is from Kirkwall or wherever). Not really an integral part of their character.
I'm sure they put a decent amount of effort into the faces of the custom-Hawke's models as well.

...except they let you design Hawke. This is just an extension of that, clearly.WilliamShatner wrote...
I'm surprised BioWare is even considering this feature. Many a time they have talked about not including features because they would destroy the integrity of the characters/story. Surely the character's look/race are integral components of the characters and things that weren't decided upon in a whim and shouldn't be subjected to such tinkering?
