[*]Blonde is recessive though, so it can show up even if the parents don't have it. I knew a family that had neither parents blonde, but two out of three kids were the brightest natural blonde you'd ever seen.

[*]Was the milkman blonde though?

Seriously the changes of Hawke's family members go beyond skin tone? I mean I was totaly fine with just skin, but the faces structures and hair go along with your customizing? This is just more icing on an already delicous cake. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

Man I wonder if this approach will be executed if Spacer Shepard were to see their mother.

The hair doesn't change colour, it stays black.
Which honestly I must say I find weird.
The actual facial structure of your siblings changes based on your appearance but not their hair colour?

Why? Siblings can have different colour hair and still be.. ye know, siblings.

I mean, I have VERY dark brown hair naturally, verging on black. (I'm a bloke for the record), however, my two sisters have completely different hair colours yet we all have the same parents. One sister has brown hair with auburn highlights (natural), and the other has very light blonde hair.

We all have different eye colours too. I have brown (I think I got the most boring genes out of the lot. >.>), the one with redish hair has green and the blonde has blue eyes. And yes, we're sure we have the exact same parents. (We kinda concluded after our parents passed away that maybe our mother was a little naughty, since we all have completely different dominant DNA genes by the looks of it. So anyway, we took a DNA test and it came back that we all had the same father and mother >_>).

So yeah.. I'm not too bothered with the hair not changing. Maybe a little upset because it would look a tiny bit weird if you met other reletives, and they ALL had black hair while you had.. ginger for example, but I suppose I take me and my sisters as living proof that variety does not equal infidelity. >.>

Sure, it can happen, but it's weird of bioware to make your family match you somewhat but then make hair always black.

I have red hair, and my sister has blonde, my mom has dark brown and my father has dirty blonde. So, it's not uncommon, but it's funny when people are so surprised that we're all related.

Same here, I have bright blonde hair and green eyes while my twin sister has brown hair and blue eyes while my younger sister has dark brown hair and brown eyes. It's all about dominante genes hiding recessive ones.

Regardless, SO excited for this feature. As awful as it sounds I may crank out a Hawk for each preset just to see Bethany and Carver before I actually even play.

Speaking of resemblance, has it already been discussed how Hawke's mother (or whoever this girl is), looks a lot like Morrigan?

Oh Lordy. In light of recent events, must... resist...trolling...

On topic, this is a seriously cool feature. Talk about taking feedback from the first game and working wonders.

Holy crap, that does look like Morrigan, doesn't it? If it is her, then my theory could be right...

However, isn't it said in the game summary that the story takes place over a ten year period? And it looks like Hawke is already grown by the time they leave Lothering. So, maybe not. :(

One of my guesses was that it's one of Flemith's daughters, if there is any connection.

here's what we know:

her name is Leandra Hawke

before marrying "father" hawke, she was named Leandra Amell (related to the human mage origin warden from origins)

she was a noblewoman from kirkwall.

I personally don't care too much about whether or not my family matches the skin tone of my character - it appears to be too minor a detail to mess with.

Huh, I recalled that they had said your family would change appearance based upon your own but had forgotten the quote in question and quite how much they change. Sometimes it's little details like this that make a good game, a great game. Especially nice to see it in DA2 where the devs have spoken about their desire to focus on family somewhat.

Edit: However I still find it weird to think that when I boot up the game Bethany, Carver and Leandra will all look potentially quite different, to what I expect them to look like based on pre-release material.

That aside I don't really care what they look like as long as it isn't the weird "Adopted black Cousland white family" thing.

I know what you mean! Although when you reflect on it, it's almost stranger to keep calling her Momma Hawke.

to me the strangeness stems from the little fact that i share the male version of her name:lol:

Lol, you have me beat on the strangeness factor then. I just find it a little odd after having referred to her as Hawke's Mum etc. for so long!

My mother's family, her oldest sister has bright red hair, and the rest of them have black hair. So, having a ginger Hawke isn't really so unrealistic.

Thank you for even considering this Bioware. I felt like the milkman's child in a few DA:O origins, especially the Human Noble one, as I tend to play darker skinned characters when possible.

well considering the fact that mommy Hawke has gray hair at this point in her life, her original hair color could be anything. It could have been red or blonde for all we know, so that would mean that if Garret has different hair color than his siblings, he could have got it from his mother. Let's also keep in mind that what don't know what daddy Hawke looks like, so he could very well have a different hair color. Consider all the possibilities here.

So there are 5-10 presets like in Mass Effect 1 & 2 (or Bethesda's Fallout games; yes I know the first two were published by Interplay, just to avoid any poindexter comments from people who want to point this out, but I digress). These presets can be further customized. Now will Carver and Bethany be further altered by any fine-tuning of Hawke's features (adjustments in nose size, eye spacing, cheekbone height, etc.) or will they simply go with preset B = Carver and Bethany B plus changes in eye colour/ hair colour/ skin tone to match older sibling? Oh I guess we'll find out soon enough. Man, I've gotten so used to character appearance customization that I have trouble playing RPGs that don't have it, like most JRPGs, but I'll stop right there since I have no intention of opening up the WRPG vs JRPG can of worms.
