Oh no, not THIS again....

Can't we all just agree on the objective truth? They did an excellent job refining the combat from ME1 to ME2 (except for the poor implementation of clips with no secondary cooling system)

and that they needed to ALSO include some more RPG elements instead of streamline it to the max like they did in ME2.

There.

We can't just say that without calling each other RPG purists, xbox fanboy shooters or evil Chtulu's??

-.- seriously...

This is really getting old, I agree with you Bianco.   Yes, everyone has subjective tastes, but for goodness sakes, do we really need the namecalling with "dumbed-down shootemup fanboys" or "elitist RPGers?"

Why can't we be friends?

ok mass effect 1 , WAS AWESOME....why did bioware change everything in mass effect 2?....im almost done mass effect 2 and right now im saying wow i think im going to pop in mass effect 1 because it was FUN...im playing mass effect 2 because i like the story line thats it...but the gameplay is just shoot and collect credits...like i said the story line is awesome..BUT the gameplay is not unless you prefir an action game then rpg...what happened? is it to appeal to the general population to increase sales.................if i was bioware id keep it the same .,..but its a business so i guess FUN is less important then revenue...anyways im probably going to get bashed on this....and its probably been talked about before....Image IPB....

Because it made the game better. HOW did this go for five pages?

That wierd because Mass Effect 2 is a vastly superior game.

Exactly, people are so tied to stripping stuff off dead bodies like some sort of ghoul and then having to find (and talk about immersion breakers) sell and buy crap from a guy on your own ship that the very similar but streamlined process fried their brains. If instead of Rifle Update II they'd had to buy Mattock version II that improved the gun 10%  they'd not be all hurt and crying.

ME2 has a similar fail, cerburus supplies you with an awsome ship but supplies you with sloppy weapons which you have to upgrade through some laborious means, but this is how it works, if you hand it all over on a plate the game is going to be shortened by a lot, in ME1 you had to earn the credits to purchase the weapons, in ME2 you have to scan a planet(while trying to stay awake) gathering minerals, ME2 is a little more believable in this respect accept the contradiction that cerberus poured billions into bringing you back, building a ship, but somehow forgot the weapons and armor, perhaps they ran out of cash.

I also agree with another poster regarding armor for the squad, taking a half naked Jack into the middle of a fire fight just does not seem right, the "option" should have been there to kit them out with armor.

"Sloppy weapons"?

The Katana can one-shot fully armored Fenris and LOKI mechs.

The Avenger perforates mercs from a hundred paces.

The Predator is the only pistol I ever use.

I determined this things before I even recruited Mordin.

So in other words, the upgrades are a pointless waste of time?

straws appear to be grasped at by djbare. if you purchased all of the dlc weapons(and clothes for jack ;)), cerberus hooks you up with the best stuff in the galaxy. the mattock and the arc projector are the best weapons in the game, imo.

you can't have your cake and eat it too, though. unless your last comment was a joke, you seem to be attempting to discredit me2, and failing.

No. They are neither pointless, nor vital to the game's completion. They strike a pretty good balance. Their only real failing is that they're not as interesting as, say, turning your assault rifle into a grenade launcher with the Explosive Rounds.

ME1 had the better variety, ME2 had a better method of acquisition that cut down on clutter.

Neither game is the END ALL BE ALL of game design.

I have the collectors edition including all dlc with the acception of appearance packs, and while I do find the arc projector a good weapon, it's still a gimmick item for the weapons collectors, I'm a story collector.

If you would like to blame the direction of the games on console players, do so on another forum. For the record, comparing differences between console gameplay versus PC gameplay is allowed. Insulting console gamers versus PC gamers is not allowed. Insults in general are not allowed. I say this because when I say "platform wars are not allowed," I want to make it very clear what aspect of platform wars I am referring to.
