I know, I know. There are about 7 million or so of these threads out there. But, being the idiot that I am I feel that I need to put my two cents out there.

Let's start this all off before i get to the list with what I feel that BioWare did right with Mass Effect 2:
1. Personality. I have never seen a group of supporting characteres in video games that had as much personality as the supporting NPC's in ME2. Weather it was Jack's fear of closeness to others, Miranda's fear of rejection and distance, Mordin's pennance for his involvement in the genophage, Tali's quest for your apporval, etc. Many of the characteres had so much personality that they were more intersting than a lot of the other things in the game.
2. More locations. That was a big one with me. And there was a lot of diversity of locations. Ho ho.. more than just jagged peaks with occasional ice.
3. The dialogue. With a few execptions I really felt that the voice action was some of the best in a long time in video games. I loved the banter between characters.
4. The action. I have been recently replaying ME1 and I find myself thirsting for a fire fight. The action was well placed and paced.
5. The Normandy. This, aside from being the only location that actually got larger, is probably my favorite location in the game. Between the crew conversations, and Rupert the Mess Sgt. I loved that ship. It had personality.

Now for the Hope List:
1. I want more characters like Mess Sgt Rupert. They really add to the feel of the world in my opinion. Characters like that tend to make you think that there is more to the scene than just the screen at the moment. I realize that many of you probably found him to be extreanous at best, but minor characters really allow me to suspend my reality and sink into the game.
2. Bring back the expanded locations. Especially for major locations like Illium or the Citadel. I would like to see more than just a couple of rooms and a few vendors. There is potential for HOURS of side quests and back ground and story for locations like that.
3. I would like to see an influence system similar to the one used in the KotOR series. The old adage of "you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time." I would like to see conflict between the characters. Something along the lines of if you make this character loyal, then you will lose the loyality of the other character; not just close diaglouge options until you build up your paragon/renagade scores and then you can make the character loyal again.
4. One of my favorite things about ME1 was that you had your whole team with in a couple of hours of pressing "Start." That is one of the things that really bothered me about ME2: Leigon was such an interesting character that I REALLY wished I could have picked him up far earlier in the game.
5. I hope that it takes more than one mission to gain the loyality of an NPC. It should be more of a porcess in my opinion. It should take more than just unlocking the diaglouge options and then puling off a mission. I want to feel like I really had to earn this character's trust. And, I don't want it to end there. I want continued missions as long as I keep this NPC loyal. More bonuses than just an unlocked power would be nice.
6. A larger crew/team. I liked the size of the team in ME2, but I felt that they tended to be interchangable during missions. I would like to see the return of specialists. For example I know that mission "X" is going to be a combat heavy mission in tight quarters so I want to take character "Y" who is good with a shot gun and character "Z" who is good with Rifles. Also, I want to see more specializations within the group. For example in ME1 you had to either be leveled in electronics and decryption or have someone in the party who was. That meant you had to think about who was going with you.
7.Larger combat teams with specialization within the team. Pretend it was a four man team. You could take two riflemen, and a medic. Or you could take a heavy weapons gunner, a sniper, and a medic. The list goes on.

Fear List:
1. They retain that @#$%ing thremal clip system. That was a step back in the game play, BioWare. I hated scrounging for clips through out the game. It seemed to break up the game play more than adding a tactical element.
2. Multiplayer. Sorry there is only ONE Shep in my universe. Though a RTS involving the Fleets would be fun.
3. The continued push towards adult language. Now bear in mind that I am 30,a nd have been a gamer longer than many of the folks on here have been alive. Swearing does not bother me, but it does irk me when it is just there as a bland and vanilla attempt to be edgy. It was not. I really liked Jack's character but felt that her dialogue would have been more interesting and less cliche if she did not realy so heavily on vulgarity.
4. The further implementation of bring boss battles. I do not know how many times I had to try to take out that Armature in ME1 before i did it.

More to come... it is 0330 and I grow sleepy
