I hope at least the other classes get something similar to keep it fair. I kind of take this as a disincentive to play as other classes.

Posted ImagePosted ImageBut we don't really know if it works the same way as it did in Origins.  And warriors have such low stamina most of the time it didn't make that big of a difference to me.

And the amount of stamina they have in DA:2 is another thing we don't know.  I am hopeful that the skills will be better balanced than they were in Origins, though.

I'm curious about healing and support spells.

In the combat video I suspected Bethany had Flaming Weapons activated... but it was never showed in the hud so I didn't include it.

Posted ImagePosted ImageWhy do you think that?  I never saw anything suggesting that and it never says Flaming Weapons under her portrait or anything.

Just checked, they kept showing the attack icon on the right and it was constantly flashing, I thought it was flaming weapons, now when I saw it again it wasn't active when they switched to Bethany so it shows only when the character is attacking... I confused it with the flaming weapons icon in Origins.

My concern is that they changed the numbers behind combat so much that it will be imbalanced again.

Tempo and Crescendo have been renamed Unforgiving Chain and Explosive Strike, respectively.

We can assume that's Flame Blast? can you get the screenshot? also if it has no hud we can't confirm it's name.

Here you go:

You can see Hawke casting it in the background, between Aveline and her opponent.

Will try and find the concept art for it too.

You need not be concerned with numbers they don't provide you, they could have changed multipliers that much I am sure of, 650 damage is simply too much compared to Origins which is why I'd not judge the numbers right now because we haven't seen all the skills yet or even a good fraction of them to form an opinion.

Since an enemy is right in front of Hawke I'll assume andar91 is correct, this might indeed be the finisher for the mage combo if the staff is fire focused... but thanks for the screenshot anyway, it's the first time I've noticed this :-)

Taking into account how much Stamina Warriors had in Awakening it was fair, don't know about now, since I remenber Peter saying there are ways to regenerate Stamina that's different to each class, Warriors in DA2 regenerate Stamina in combat through hitting enemies IIRC, so I guess it might work differently.

Warriors restore stamina by using abilities (Second Wind?) and rogues restore stamina by (auto-)attacking, I believe mages restore mana through lyrium potions, but I'm not absolutely sure about that..

I know it makes sense considering they're trying to make warriors more useful for multiple targets, but I'm going to miss whirlwind with dual-wielding.

Yeah, just rechecked the thread, Warriors do indeed recover Stamina through abilities and Mages have passive regeneration in addition to the normal use of lyrium potions, and rogues through normal attacks, also warriors and rogues can still use Stamina potions.

I hope Rogues don't still get the short straw again.

Th fact that warriors can out-DPS them if used correctly belittles them significantly. Mages will most likely be more useful in ranged combat than archers, as well.

Top that all off with their extremely low health and I don't see why someone wouldn't prefer another class over them in combat since their "strengths" can certainly be surpassed. I hope this isn't the case.

I'd probably guess Creation.. It looked like the spells that were shown with that color were Heal, and Glyph of Paralysis..

Rogues if used right can be as strong and adept in a fight as a warrior if not more, Rogues have the advantage in 1 vs. 1 battles and warrios are more useful with clustered enemies, I guess anyone can make a 2 hander than pulls aggro with taunt and threaten and by that maximizing the warrior's DPS but still after a while and near the end of the fight rogues are gonna be a better choice so....

That's kind of my point. A warrior and mage can easily surpass the Rogues strengths normal fights most of the time. I suppose a dual-wield Rouge would be more effective during a boss fight, though.

Other than that, I don't really see where a Rogue would be more useful than another class. Enemies cluster most of the time anyway and the Rogue's low HP will make sure they don't last long in common fights like those.

Just watch the combat walthrough. Hawke's HP is going down extremely quickly while Aveline's barely takes a hit.

Rhyming Triplet

For some reason, this is the thing I want to know about. Probably because I have NO IDEA what it could be.
Thank you for making this list - I had no idea it was possible to glean so much from what we'd been shown! Delighted to see the new and improved Glyph of Paralysis there.

If I had to guess, I'd go with Varric's exclusive path skill. He is, after all, a storyteller.

So STR looks like it is actually needed for non-warrior mages now. Interesting.
