Every time I try and do a paragon playthrough with Jack and just be her friend it automatically turns into romance and if I don't romance her my Shep talks like as if he wants her on the side even though Im romancing someone else.

So far I've only been able to come up with these options:

Romance her properly (you know where she cries)

Shag her in her little hidey hole

Ignore her

****** her off through any of the various dialogue, context, fighting with Miranda opportunities

Is there any way I can just be her friend???

No I honestly dont think so. I do her loyalty mission and leave her otherwise she wants to sex you up and if you decline she has a breakdown. I sort of agree with this way of doing things to prove that Shepard is not always liked by everyone, even his crew.

I wish there were. My female Shepard would love to be a sort of older sister to Jack, but no such luck. What can I say, I am the sort of idiot that has a soft spot for people like Jack.

Nope. You can get her loyalty but if you're not romancing her, eventually she has nothing more to say to you and keeps telling you to f*ck off.



If you do start a romance with her with the intention of ending it to be just friends that's just kind of jerky and there's no way she'd want to be your friend after you dump her.

Well… sort of. But not really.
 
If you don’t take the Renegade sex option (obviously), and make it clear to her in her post-loyalty mission dialogue tree that you are not interested in romance (mostly lower right dialogue options), she still gets upset and disappointed but not actively hostile.
 
I think that’s about as good as it gets.
 
Like Shepard says: “I’ll take what I can get with you Jack.”

Another Paragon player who tried. There's no way to leave things civil and reach the end of the dialogue tree that I've found.

It is very easy to be just friends with Jack.

Simply do not romance her (always taking the Paragon option will always result in romance), do her loyalty mission the paragon way, and do not side with Miranda in their fight (either use persuade or side with Jack).



Then you are friends.

That really sucks. And yeah I agree it makes more sense that she needs someone to treat her like a normal human being. I actually asked a friend of mine who plays as a femshep and she confirmed that if you play as a woman then you can be her friend.

I guess maleshep is just so irresistable...  lol

You can, but she doesn't have any more dialogue. At one point she'll ask if you've got feelings for her. You have to say you aren't interested. And then the next dialogue option will be either "Agreed. No Romance" or one other one that turns out be "Is this a problem?"



You have to say "Agreed. No Romance." and you'll have ended the romance without her getting angry at you.



She'll just say "Shepard, we talked enough, you;re just pissing around. No hard feelings but I don't want to play" just like if you automatically get after a certain point as a female Shepard.

Oh wow, Ive tried 3 or 4 times and I've never gotten this "neutral" dialogue ending...

Crazy it's so hard to find...

My Paragon Shepard always accidently gets into a Romance start up with all the women throwing themselves at him. He just wanted to be friends and he's loyal to Ashley! Geeze... Luckily he didn't fall for their tricks and actually do the deed but like ME1 LIs for ME2.... I have a feeling that they will still end up being registered as being romanced even though I stopped talking to them when sex was the only thing left to do.

Nah you don't have to worry about that Elite, as long as the picture in your cabin with your ME1 LI's is still up then it means your Shep is still loyal to her/him.

After her loyalty mission just pick the neutral response and the romance wont start. I forget which one it was but Shephard will say something like "With you I'll take what I can get, Jack." She then says thanks and she owes him one.

In ME 1 you could give Kaidan very clear (as FemShep) that Liara is yours and after little fuss he do accept that and move on BUT you still can be friends without dialog tree cut off in half of the road.



ME 2 don't give such option... either romance or "sorry Shep but i am too busy to notice your existence"... that's why i wish that ME 1 write team comeback to ME 3 instead of those band of complete amateurs lead by Mac "ME Wiki is my best source of inspiration" Walters...



Hell... LoTSB show what this game could really be if original team remain as creators...
