Whatever solution bioware comes up with, whether its infinite ammo, or increasing Shepard's ammo capacity. Shepard shouldn't have to go scavenging for ammo in the middle of combat.

And it should be automatic after combat, IMHO.

Nawh, I felt as if the ammo made the combat more smooth, and overall realistic.

How good that people know whats "realistic" in the future. So funny to read. Neither biotics or element zero are realistic but werent removed.

So you're saying that Gears, CoD, Halo and Uncharted are successful franchises because they have an ammo reloading mechanic? Is that honestly what people are suggesting?

For that matter, is the only argument that people can come up with in favor of a thermal clip system "because every other shooter does it"? Because that's f-ing retarded.

Honestly, there should be no reason that anyone should be opposed to a hybrid system. If you want your "viceral shotty experience" which is somehow only made possible by having an ammo counter in the corner of your screen, then so be it. Those of us who don't want to spend 20 seconds after each engagement scouring the battlefield like bloody vultures for shiny little clips that don't even function the way the lore and common sense dictates they should function should also have the option of a backup cooldown mechanic. Why should only "hardcore shooter fans" be able to enjoy the gameplay in ME3?

No, I'm not suggesting that they are all successful because they have ammo mechanics, I'm suggesting that they're all succesful shooters and they all happen to have an ammo mechanic. And being as the mission statement for ME 2 was to better emulate the shooters of the era since BioWare found out with ME 1 they weren't exactly the best shooter producers on the market, it stands to reason that they would include one as well being as the games they were trying to emulate one all have one. Along with regenerating health, and proper cover mechanics, and weapons that differentiate themselves from their predecessors in ways that aren't stat based, and aiming that isn't stat based, etc, etc, etc.

With regards to hybrids people are opposed to them because common sense will tell you there's a reason every shooter on the market doesn't have toggle switches for regenerating health or ammo counts when they're huge factors when balancing the game.

Sure in a perfect world it'd be great, but in the real world you don't hybridize and therefore make it impossible to balance major aspects of your game. You go with one or the other and you balance it accordingly. I've seen games have specific weapons that don't have ammo while others do (practically any turret in any shooter, pistols in games that revolve around much more exotic weapons, etc) but they do that because they can easily control when and how you'll wind up with said infinite ammo weapon. Doing it across the board would be retarded and it's NEVER going to happen.

Yes. This isn't supposed to be Call of Duty.

Oh dear Lord, why do I keep reading these boards?

How many games use ammo? Are they all bad?

Is Call of Duty even BAD, or are you just being a typical RPG elitist who thinks Call of Duty is for subhumans?

Why people whine so much?

.

It's clear that the thermal system improved the gunplay drastically, so, it's good, period. Bioware even gave a very good explanation to fit it in the universe.

If you play the game the way it's meant to be played you die often enough.

Good system. I hope they keep it.

On a side note, I love the idea of the incisor...now if it didn't run out of ammo after a few shots I would love it more; give it a better ammo pick up and x3 ammo capacity...
