If you ask me, romances were the best parts of Origins and really made the game real. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was amazing, but it just felt really.......cold. I just didn't care about the world or the people in it.
But anyway, want I want to know, is what people want to see in the romance sub-plots. Here's a seriously cut version of mine.
1. A pregnancy. If your in a relationship for 10 years, I expect children. And since I'm so conservative, I want a marriage as well. And even if, it's a miscarriage, I know it's going to be heartbreaking. I'm going to be crying for days, (and I only had one manly tear when I watched "Up", (proudest moment of my life by the way)).
2. Bethany/Carver having their own romance. It'd be fun having a big brother/sister chat with them AND their LI.
3. A female elf LI. Elves are just great. Preferably a none tattooed elf. I really hate elves tattoos, but we'll have to see what redesigned Merill looks like, (if she even is a LI and companion).
Okay I am confused.
What the heck does Oblivion got to do with the price of sliced bread mate? I mean really?
Why would anyone think you saying the romances in Bioware games made to feel more of a connection to the characters therein is an attack on Oblivion?
You mentioned nothing before or after that really if you forgive me for saying -randomass- statement.
As to the romances to me it really depends.on how they are written and how they are implemented.
I say no to Ninjamances. And no to reducing romantic interests to a walking talking set of boobs and vagina (or in case of the guys walking talking muscles n penis).
I mention this because thats exactly what happened in Mass Effect 2 - and given the new Dragon Effect: Return of the Reaper Gods direction of Dragon Age with this second game it was a fear I had right up until I remembered that David Gaider is the head writer of DA.
Not that I dont like Mass Effect (1 and 2) - I love them. I just dont like ME2 romances (of which I am HIGHLY critical of at every opportunity lol) and would literally cry if the DA2 romances went in the same direction. *shudder*
As I said though fortunately David Gaider is the head writer of this game; and he is well aware of the general vitriol directed at ME2's Ninjamances.
I think an Elven female LI would be nice for the str8 boy Hawke's this time around; and for the gay boy Hawke's a nice studly manly brooding human warrior LI.
We already have Isabela for the gay girl Hawke's; and I would love to see a Prince Charming type (but maybe not as good looking) for the str8 girl hawke's.
