Why would anyone think you saying the romances in Bioware games made to feel more of a connection to the characters therein is an attack on Oblivion?
It's not an attack, it's an observation, and one I share. Not so much the romance angle, but I felt no personal connection to Cyrodiil at all. There was zero reason for me to go seek out Martin, besides advancing the plot. In DAO, I felt not connection to the Wardens, but I did care about my companions and people like Fergus and Irving.
It's not that Oblivion had it wrong, I just think BioWare has it better.
