OK, who here knew you could shoot the arms/weapons off a Heavy YMIR mech??

I have finished the game now 10-15 times and just now, today, did I find out you can shoot the arms/weapons off the Heavy mech.  I knew you could do it to Loki's BUT I didn't know you could an YMIR.  Now I don't know how useful it is, because to do so you have to strip the shields and armor off, but if you needed cover from another, what better than a defenseless/offenseless mech??

Anyway just another thing you learn when you play the game again, and again, and again.......

Nice, but the resultant nuclear explosion from a headshot finisher is more rewarding. Almost like a free Cain shot.

Yea, I knew about the disarming, but I couldn't help but do the headshot and nuclear explosion. XD

I just finished the Grunt recruitment, both teammates died and shot off both arms of the YMIR, who was the last opponent. Let me tell you it was funny as heck to see a YMIR following me around like a puppy, yapping his heart out, but totally harmless. I just ran around collecting unneeded heat sinks because it was fun to see it follow along behind. I just wish I used/had Fraps because it would have made a great video.



Nuke blast is fun with YMIRs and I will do that most of the time, simply because it takes out other enemies, but since I have played so much, finding fun ways to kill/play with enemies is something I try to do.

LOL, didn't know this either, though probably because YMIRs are goners without defenses anyway, and I never bothered trying to shoot their weapons off if they could be killed within seconds.

Having it following you sounds cool - I'll try that next time I meet one

found out 'on accident' as well.

it's easy to miss that, since you must 1st get rid of the shield and armor and by the time you've done that 90% of the fighting is done, killing the mech by then is easy.

like Locutus_of_BORG said, shooting the head is far better -- just for the nuke blast... just make sure you take cover.
