My gameplay experience is that  Turians are prideful, pompous and xenophobic. Except for Garus except he is called a bad Turian so he is unique and does not represent the average Turian. While I think the Salarians and especially the Asari are a lot less pompous  and judgemental.

I think that Turians have a cool visual design and awesome voices. I think that generalizing about the personality and nature of a species of individuals with a population far greater than the planet Earth has today is naive and borderline racist.

Other than being blatantly inferior to the volus, turians are pretty cool.

hahaha I have to laugh because your throwing a serious word around like racism about a fictional species!!! LOL! Either your taking this game way to seriously or your trying to be a troll! I just wanted to have a fun topic. I could be wrong about my generalization if so just say so and if you have time point out an example! Its supposed to be a fun entertaining topic sheesh, why else would I be posting on a game site!

From my experience the "everyday" Turian is a proud and respectable race that deserves a little respect. Especially considering they have been in the galactic community for a few thousand years, while humanity has only been around nineteen.

Just to, ya know, put some perspective in there.

I agree he could give us a  haggling bonus when we are buying stuff on the citadel or when we do those minigames with the sensors

Well they do have their turian honour and pride going on there. As for xenophobic.. I guess that's from turian to turian. There are alot of xenophobes from different races. Heck, that asari on Illium is far more xenophobic than any turian I've met in game.

Agreed. His passive will give you money for every kill he makes.

Eh, maybe not a squadmember, but definately crew. Although it'd be hilarious to have some of these guys running around killing people.

They have a lot of similarities between the humans, ones that they won't admit. They're my personal favorite race.

Ah yes "militant culture". We've already dismissed that claim.

Imperialists. Not in a 'Oh you Americans are imperialists.' I mean, they are literally an empire, and they act like one (which is to say, far from the always-evil stereotypes and connotations most people attribute with the word).

Far from the worst imperialists (meritocracy has its values), and they do maintain a respectable ethos (when it isn't being undermined by their war policies), but they are what they are and you should never forget that they do what they do and play nice with the Council because it works out better for them, and not because they are ideologically inclined to compromise (like, say, the Asari).

Turians being based on the ancient Republican/Imperial Romans stereotype, they can't help being percieved as duty-obsessed, uncompromising hardasses. Such a profile made them ideally suited to become the Council's "police force" and main military contributor.

Naturally, you can't generalize too much: there were plenty of corrupt and dishonest Romans and it's likely there are lots of atypical turians like Garrus.
