I understand this has been briefly addressed by the daforums, but I feel like someone (either a community relations rep or some EA marketing officer) should explain what the situation is going to be with regard to being able to pre-load.

I've read that many people have cancelled their Impulse preorders, and chosen other retailers due to worries about bandwidth problems the day of release.

I completely agree with them (whether they actually cancelled and went with another online retailer or not). It doesn't really make sense for EA to allow certain retailers of their product, offer preloads to their customers, and not to others. I'm certain they prefer their numbers to be accurate, so as to calculate sales figures and estimate initial revenue with greater efficiency.

Now I'm not really expecting Bioware to have an answer for this, but I would like to nudge someone at Bioware, to nudge someone at EA to give us (those of us who've preordered from retailers like Impulse) some sort of information. I think, being the loyal preorder-ers of the game, awards us the response that might put a few minds at ease, (mine included).

I know this has been said before, but I think if a thread like this one gets large enough, it might evoke a response, then everyone will be obligated to throw me a party.Posted Image

There was already a response from a Bioware employee last week on the other forums. He said there is "No official word". Enjoy. Bioware probably CAN'T comment on it because it's up to EA and the online distributors at this point. Bioware has no say in how the game is distributed.

Honestly I believe they are already trying to deal with steam/impulse. I say this cause there has been absolutely NO response from BW to any questions about pre-loading. Nor has there been a response on the steam forums.

If the answer was no, they would tell you. If the answer is yes they would tell you.

Maybe they are working on getting steam (who must also propagate it to servers) the necessary files still. who knows?

Bump!

I know that a select number of games (MMO's come to mind) have offered certain rewards to Pre-ordered games and digital downloads both (fewer copies you're forced to manufacture). I'd like to know also!

No offense, but I didn't expect Bioware to give me a comment. Rather to keep nudging EA to resolve this in some small way, (even if that is to simply give us a 'one post' response). It can't be good for business to make deals with retailers, then leave out critical information that results in the cancelling of many pre-orders.

I only made this post here, because the daforums link seems to be unaccessable from the www.dragonage.com site. People can still reach it via the http://daforums.bioware.com address, but it seems they want to move the conversations to this new forum.

Again, I'm simply an excited, albeit worried customer, who would like a little reassurance from the distributors and retailers regarding the method of product delivery.

I've paraphrased what I've sent to Impulse via email here.

Cheers,

I really have no inside source, just the day before seems likely. Unlock is set in stone for 10am PST.

Bump.

Hopefully somebody may answer, but let s keep in mind that these days, our friends at Bioware are having their little private tea party over London. I would still feel relieved if one of them found the time to, indeed, nudge some of the quiet useless and ill-communicative staff at EA.

Anyhow, It has been hinted many times, and this by the "evil piano" himself that he would keep us in touch when he would have news(that was two weeks ago... he isn't called evil for nothing).

So, yeah indeed: HELLO GUYS!! countdown to launch just passed the J-1week on my watch.. any news???

So, if we won't get anything from EA (I certainly don't blame Bioware), does anyone know what time Impulse will have the game available so I can begin the download as early as possible?

I'm hopeful Impulse will provide the necessary bandwidth, but I'm skeptical.

I canceled my digital copy since there will be no pre-loading with Steam/Impulse/D2D. Just going to buy an in-store copy.

I'm not canceling Steam that's for sure. $55 for Deluxe and likely waiting 72 hours. Oh the humanity!!

It's all too simple, there wont be any pre-load of a PC game that is not multiplayer cd key controlled. The leak of the software would be a epidemic fail and every hacker in the world would be on his toes trying to get a pre glimspe of the content and most likely would be successfully no matter the level of intelligence the hacker has. It also can lead to a serious law suit on the end of the company who is dishing out said software... (Employee's, mistakes, hacked servers, who knows....

It's a bit easier to lockup a trailer full of boxes than a online copy of said title.. No publisher would let that float around ever... Simply don't expect anything like this ever, no matter what level of encryption is possible.

So, does anyone know what time Impulse will allow the download? Is it 10:00am PDT?

I've downloaded a few singleplayer games via preload before also. Why not simply leave a few critical files out? (files that would take many-a-month for any code-writer to replicate)

I've looked on the Impulse forums, and they don't mention an exact time for download. Any insight?

Wait... so we have to wait until 2:00 PM EST to download a 15-20GB game that will probably be bottle necked by all the other people downloading the same thing? Guess I'll be playing the game Thursday, if not later...

It's not really the waiting that's the problem for me... it's that I'm very likely to run into people who have played the game to a point where they can ***** me off with spoilers. I'd like to at least get 2-4 hours of the game in before Friday comes along and I don't want to feel forced because I had to wait until 10:00pm Thursday.

Now now, don't deny it that deep down you love Vin Diesel, even though my character isn't based on him, but that seems to be beside the point.
