Ok, don't shout at me. I get that some of you long time posters get bored of seeing the same posts, and I get  this may have been answered before, but I can't see a search function anywhere andhave scanned as many threads that don't offer me the information as I can stand so I am asking for a little tolerance and constructive help.

I have installed the game, patched it, and followed all the help given in the stickies above, but the game just won't start. I get the 'Dragon Age has stopped working' message before the game even fires up.

I have tried running the game with admin priviledges and in XP compatability mode with no success.

I run Vista and a GeForce 9800 GTX if that matters?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried uninstalling the game and then reinstalling without patching it? Running the game without the v1.01 patch may be a better way to go for now. Patch 1.01 has caused a lot of people a lot of problems and not just limited to getting the game to play (start). There have been other issues within a working game people have complained about since v1.01 came out.

There are a few of these. Unfortunately you will most likely need to read a whole thread to find out if there is an answer.

Excuse me for my grammar, English is not my own tongue.
Some people got some problems to run the game after installing the patch  because it was compiled with a new version of VS  C++ redistributable. Try to download  and install this new version with Windows Update.
and you should be fine  normally.

He said he tried the stickies above so I assumed he meant the one where he needed to update the C++ file as it is stickied up above. Hence my reply above what to possibly try next.

have you tried disabling PhysX GPU acceleration in the nvidia control panel? I had a problem in game where i would get the 'Dragon age has stopped working' error quite often at random times. So i disabled PhysX and i have not had a crash since :)

There are many, many answers to be found here. Look through the site. Best to search it using Google... type in site:social.bioware.com and then include your search terms.

There are also stickies at the top of the forum and some links in my sig that may help you troubleshoot. Good luck!
