A full 250 years after the original Guild Wars, massive upheavals,
cataclysms, and globe-spanning events have changed the world of Tyria.
Human civilization is in decline. Other races are rising up, taking
control over large portions of the world; the balance of power has
shifted. The dragons have awoken.

I don't think swtor needs much detail info. But you can check out swtor.com for all the information

I was able to participate in a Rift weekend beta. Its the best looking MMO with a deep skill system and the combat is very responsive. But the overall design reminds me of Warcraft a little too much.  If I ever play an MMO again it might be TOR.  The questing and NPC companions hold the most promise for me.

I don't mind them doing that but as long as they're not neglecting their single-player games as a result; there does seem to be some evidence that a few too many are jumping on the bandwagon, though.

Problem with MMOs is other people.  If they weren't there...

Exactly. Generally an MMO studio would make an MMO (Sounds silly, I know), and it's only a handful of 'quality' developers who have done it otherwise. Funcom are one, but they're predominantly MMO. BioWare have two studios dedicated to MMOs (Austin and Mythic) and Blizzard have three separate teams - WoW development doesn't affect the other two except, perhaps, in terms of increasing the budget.

I'm looking forward to TOR the most out of those, but I'm also keeping an eye on The Secret World and Royal Quest, and may jump into Champions Online when it goes F2P (If it hasn't already).

Edit: Josh, don't hotlink from other sites. It's bad, 'kay?

ToR is the only pay-to-play MMO on the horizon that I am wanting to play. I'll probably buy Guild Wars 2 as well.

Dark Millennium Online, but only because I love 40k. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm turned off to it once more info surfaces.

Honestly, I haven't really enjoyed an MMO for more than a few months since I played Dark Age of Camelot. I'm not a fan of the direction MMOs have been going.

none I'm not spending 60 dollars on a game then pay 14-20 bucks a month just to keep playing it, and yes I know what the money goes for but it's still expensive and I'll never people paying monthly fees to play a game they spent 60 bucks on

I'm really looking forward to GW2, I don't really care about the rest of the MMOs.

I did play 3 Rift betas, PvE was decent, but not good. PvP is crap and heavily unbalance with the many skills available, and all these skills even look a lot alike between the schools.

TOR without any question.

It has a story, your character talks, you have companions, you have romance, interesting classes, a more dynamic combat, it's different than any other MMO out there, it's not WoW, dialogue and cinematic scenes, choices, a morality system and group conversation within the story, it represents the continuation of KotOR, the graphics are beautiful, space combat (while not very special) looks fun.

To sum all that up:

StarWars + BioWare = Happy me

If the CC is as expansive as the one Champions Online has then I will be joining up if only to see the weird and wonderful (and sometimes downright awful) characters people create.

Also TOR looks to be shaping up nicely so I will probably give that a try as well.

The Old Republic is the only one I'm going to play. Guild Wars 2 does look good but The Old Republic is the only MMORPG that looks to have a solid single player component to it.

I love your signature by the way.

Actually from the review's I have heard "Rift" has a bit of everquest and world of warcraft combined into them enchaning both of their benfits and not their faults. Playing off the World of Warcraft model but not "ripping it off" let's be honest here. Warcraft got the idea for the "Alliance" and "Horde" from Warhammer.

Or Warhammer got it from them, the whole achivement's thing was xbox360 thing first. However I been hearing good review's about a game I almost never heard of.

Personally I am looking to play Swtor MMO. It has single rpg and mmo. I think this will be an excellent playing experience. However I am going to play all of the games listed above expect for guilds wars 2, havent heard that much good buzz from it yet

The best reason to play Guild Wars 2 is that it isn't pay to play. Was all one had going for it as well.

They way I understand Star Wars the Old Republic is that it's basically like Dragon Age:Origins except that your companions are real people. You start a class/faction and based on that choice you have an origins story and then a single player campaign where you make light sided or dark sided decisions and you interact with various NPC's whom you can form relationships, even romances with.

So the way I see Star Wars:The Old Republic is that it will be like a Bioware single player RPG but with a multi-player mode to extend the life of it.

I think you might be over-simplifying it.

Guild wars 2 looks pretty good for a f2p mmo. TOR looks too cartoony for my taste, but I might eventually give it a try.

Guild Wars is NOTHING like Cataclysm... if anything, it's an antiMMO!
I can't wait for it...

Having spent over 3000 hours in the first one, I'm definetly keeping an eye on GW2. Not liking some of the changes they're implementing though, like energy potions. I hate energy/mana potions.

I'll also be keeping an eye on TOR, but not planning on getting it at the moment. The gameplay footage I've seen so far has been rather underwhelming, apart from the dialog sequences.
