Yes, more than the first game even. Especially the new spell & combat animations that give it a kiddy game feel to me personally. It looks fast & unrealistic like an action cartoon played on saturday mornings.

Honestly, DAO had a "bland" look. It was your standard dark fantasy color palette. From the orifinal Game Informer screenshot that what they have shown in the videos, I can only say that it will look different.

I will judge the graphical quality when I get the game. I wont try to form an opinion from "blink and you miss" clips that arent showing me the final product. That just isnt right.

It's not cartoony enough, if you ask me, and you did.

Anime has a broad range of art styles.
Which anime do you believe DA2 looks like and why do you dread it?

I understand people saying the combat video looked like a cartoon, but why the screenshots?

Looks fine to me I wouldn't even describe it as cartoony. At best its just a more stylized version of DAO if you ask me. All I know is that the women have ludicrously large assets and some don't wear pants, thats a plus in my book.

I have no problem with stylized art styles, but as stylized art styles go, I'm not particularly impressed with DA2's at the moment. Sebastian looks more like a realistic last gen character than a stylized current gen character. Subject to change of course, maybe that was an old build or didn't have proper lighting, I don't know.

Wait, you think DA2 looks like a series where the eyes of most characters take up 2/3rds of their faces and 99.9% of the hair survives on metric tons of gel that allows it to defy the basic concepts of gravity? Posted Image

I think we have different definitions of cartoony. I just don't see it.

I like the brighter, more colourful palette, especially for the backgrounds. I'm not so happy with the characters, which look somewhat plastic to me, but I'm not sure if they're showing them at high/low res, or with finished lighting and textures. Because of that, I'm not going to judge until I see for myself, or get screenshots of finished pc product, with known resolution and detail level.

EDIT: The Hawkes that GodWood posted look like what I'm hoping the characters will all look like. Sebastian's pictures look plastic. My question is: which example is the finished product?

I don't dread anime myself, it holds the mighty power in fact. I like art in general, and I like the art style of this game yessir.

Not really, it's a different style but it doesn't seem any more "cartoony" than Origins was to me.

I don't think it really looks very different at all aside from all the characters not looking so terribly bland and samey. Their designs have more flourish to them definitely, but that doesn't make them cartoons

I'm definitely not getting an anime vibe from it, i think you're just embellishing because it's different, and change is bad everything should always be static and unchanging for ever :crying:

For me personally, graphics take a back seat to gameplay and story. (Hey, I'm the guy that spent 200+ hours playing Oblivion on a computer that could only do it on lowest settings at 10 FPS, and even then crashed every few hours.)

However, I'm not particularly thrilled with the direction the art style is taking here. Everything looks really... Bland. Colorless. From my point of view anyway. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong images. The real problem is with the animation. I can't even see half the blows struck or the movements made in these preview videos. No human can move that fast.

Granted, DA2 is SUPPOSED to be a completely different game. The animation style in DA:O was realistic. DA2 seems intended to be exaggerated. We'll see how it works out in the finished game.
