I haven't had my caffeine yet, but I support this idea.

And thank you OP for using the term 'desire spirit.' It's sad that the majority of people on this board are so narrow-minded they feel the need to use the term 'demon.'

I want to see Desire Demon as NPC.

Indeed.

Don't spirits call corrupted ones (spirits) demons? I remember Justice throwing around the demon word. So did. . .well, demons. I don't see the problem.

If the term 'spirit' is used, I really would expect 'evil' or 'malicious' to be before 'desire spirit' by default. I didn't run into a single desire spirit during any of my playthroughs that had any beneficial intentions, except for themselves. They're better than the other spirits defined as demons (you could at least make an arrangement with the one inhabiting Connor without damaging anyone), but they're still pretty demon-y in general.

Would make a very interesting companion, though. Probably wouldn't end up being more self-serving than Morrigan.

Desire demon encounters in DAO were fun at first but are too one dimensional. Would have to move beyond a very narrow way of thinking to be more complex.

Except that it is a demon. It's not a question of polite phrasing but of terminology-- a demon is any spirit that feeds off of/attempts to manipulate living beings through their baser emotions. The desire demons do so by definition.

And by that nature, I don't see how one could be a companion unless you never know that the character is possessed.

If you did know, it'd be like letting a friend walk around with a nasty skin tumor and not encouraging them to go to the doctor. You really. . .wouldn't care for that person at all for that to be the case, heck, you would probably have to despise them.  And if you didn't know. . .well then what's the point. I could say Oghren was possessed by a douchebag demon, it was never explained in the game, but I'd like to think there was a redeemable character in there.

so, how does wade do this? does he craft weapons and armor that feed of the user's emotions? or is it something he does in his off time? i'm just curious due to wade apparently being a desire demon in one of the dlcs and i can't really picture him as such, though that might because he's that good.:P

I don't think anything in Darkspawn Chronicals was considered canon, unless they said it somewhere.

though there is the possibility that he's been a desire demon all along, or just something that happened in that what if situation, either way i'm curious.

With a Desire Demon on board, it certainly would be an unbalanced party, but that would be more fun IMHO... Posted Image

A possessed mage companion would be interesting. Split personality and all that. At the risk of sounding like a nerd, it would have to be more of a Tok'ra-style symbiosis than a Goa'uld-style mind domination.

And that's my cue to exit.

Demons don't really do symbiosis, spirits do.

But the above poster is right. . .I think Herren was the demon in Darkspawn Chronicals.

Whew.
It would cause region-wide havoc if/when the armour shop suddenly started to ONLY make nipple-bikini's instead of dragonbone chest-pieces.

Jade Empire's Wild Flower springs to mind. Interesting character. I wouldn't mind seeing another companion like that.

Would you kindly stop by Maria's Desire Demon thread?  I know you might lose a few brain cells by the end of it but I would really like to see your response.

Herren is not a Desire Demon, either.

Possibly a Desire Demon came along and possessed him in the Darkspawn Chronicles timeline, or some other shenanigan. It wasn't really explored. But outside of that timeline, it didn't happen-- period.
