Would you kindly stop by Maria's Desire Demon thread?  I know you might lose a few brain cells by the end of it but I would really like to see your response.

I don't think that would be wise.

And thank you OP for using the term 'desire spirit.' It's sad that the majority of people on this board are so narrow-minded they feel the need to use the term 'demon.'
Indeed.

Except that it is a demon. It's not a question of polite phrasing but of terminology-- a demon is any spirit that feeds off of/attempts to manipulate living beings through their baser emotions. The desire demons do so by definition.

I take it you won't be putting our banner in your sig?

Dinosaur Gaider hates Desire Demons almost as much as he hates dwarves. Because I'm saying so. :<

Actually, I'd have nothing against having a Desire Demon as a party member. That could be quite cool. But they'd either need to be a manifest demon or be possessing a host-- they couldn't be melded a la Wynne. That's what a spirit does, and the two are very different things.

Y'now, I can't be the priest of your religion if the things I say that are true aren't true :<

Anyway, demons are more powerful when possessing a mage, aren't they? I aways wondering, if a Desire Demon possessed, let's say, a warrior, she would be limited only to swing her little metal stick or she would have special abilities? More important, Desire Demons are aways "she" or that's just a body model limitation?

are demons capable of possessing inanimate objects or they only possess living beings?
and can a demon be forced to possess something? like with a magic spell or something.
just throwing ideas in the air:whistle:

Arrrgh!! I haven't got around to playing Golems yet!!! I can't believe Herren got possessed by a desire demon! Of all the people, why Herren? Talking about bisexual companions, didn't Isabela and Zevran have some history between them?

Does my thread actually bother you?

Are they different because of what they feed off or do they feed off different emotions/concepts because they're different beings?

The Sloth Demon in the Mage Origin said that just because he was a demon that didn't mean he was a demon. I wonder if there are Desire Demons that aren't interested in possessing humans.

I've never read it. That makes it easy for it not to bother me-- same reason I don't read fanfiction. Posted Image

The former. Ultimately they're all spirits-- but the nature of a spirit can change. I believe Justice has quite a bit to say about this in Awakening.

I wonder if demons can posses a Darkspawn. I asked Dinosaur David, but he said no one asked them. Not cool :<

Justice wasn't a demon.

But demons could inhabit skeletons, that's where most of the game undead came from, demonic possession.

correct, but substitute demon for spirit and what i said still stands with justice being a spirit forcefully put into an inanimate body(corpse).

<3 Justice. I hope to see him again in spectral form at some point. I've always wanted to hear Justice banter with Morrigan.

I really liked Justice he was a great companion  besides his face creeping me out had to keep a helmet on him.

A desire demon could be pretty awesome if its done right. (Her traveling with you in some possessed victim)

Maybe they come across a companions old friend that has been possessed and they bring the demon a long with them while they are trying to find the lyrium to perform the ritual to save the victim.

In the end of the quest the PC would be able to betray his companion and keep the desire demon or they can actually kill it.

If i remember right there's entry in the Codex which says demons aren't very knowledgeable when it comes to things in our world, and so frequently a demon will inhabit first thing they encounter, only to then discover their mistake. Hence the possessed trees in the Brecilian Forest and such.

Granted, one could argue trees are actually living beings too. In any case, it leaves room for the protagonist to carry around a demon possessing a potted plant or whatever, i guess.

Didn't a demon possess Connor which lead to some of the statues and undead fighting you in Origins? If you wanted one to be a companion that way, you could try that. It'd have to be a totally new class though. Maybe something from Dragon Age 3
