Taken straight from the CDN page:

Controversy brews tonight as scientists on Mars assess the contents of a
newly opened chamber in the Prothean ruins. The opening has been a
dream of exoarchaeologists for decades, delayed by the many steps
necessary to replicate Prothean code keys and crack the cryptography for
entry. Critics say the Milky Way Foundation, which provided
supercomputers for the cryptanalysis, could hoard any Prothean
discoveries. Dr. Unira T'Lam, liaison from the Citadel Committee on
Paleotechnology, says she's been kept in the dark. "Foundation personnel
have orchestrated a security system that keeps out everyone except a
select cabal," she accuses. "Anything could be taken from inside and
we'd never know." Dr. Ilsa Warren, who heads the analysis unit,
dismisses the allegation. "We've made it clear all technology stays in
situ throughout the cataloging and analysis process, which could take
years," she says. "Dr. T'Lam's fears would be more appropriate closer to
the end of the decade.

Condsidering this is one of the last weeks for the CDN I thought this could be a hint at a plotline leading up to ME3. Thoughts?

The last person who tried to keep Prothean technology out of the Council’s hands got a bullet in her head from courtesy of a Spectre. I don’t envy this Dr. Warren one bit.

Turns out it was a Prothean public toilet that was locked because you needed to pay to enter.

And that cabal is Cerberus.

And for those who don't remember from Lair of the Shadow Broker, the Milky Way Foundation is a front for Cerberus money laundering and other activities.

Ah, but the Alliance is the Council. (Or, at least a quarter of it.) The corporations kept the Prothean data secret from the governments. Here, one of the Council government likely maintains control regardless.

And... Zulu's probably going to eat his heart out when he learns of this. This is a strong implication that Cerberus still is actively being used by the Alliance in some regards: the Milky Way Foundation is nearly as old as Cerberus itself, and the chances that Alliance oversight didn't know at some level is rather small.

They found a prothean teddy bear that craps eezo.

AMAZING!!!

Next DLC: Capture the eezo crapping teddy bear!!!

lol seriously though, it would be a cool point of departure for the upcoming dlc, but that's true for a lot of the good writing snips on the CDN. I also hope we get more than one DLC.

Ha, awesome. I didn't remember that, but suspected it was a Cerberus plot anyway. Sounds like something they'd do.

Maybe bioware will put the idiot ball down and have Cerberus actually succeed here for a change. They have beaten enough missions out of Cerberus incompetence. Maybe it could be about field testing the discovery or protecting the base from attack.

A top secret Prothean discovery found out right before ME3 located in their secret Mars base and being handled by Cerberus... What are the chances this has nothing to do with the main plot...

Personally doubtful, it's possible, and would be nice as you say to drop the idiot ball.  But consider what we know about ME3 already :(.

Is Dr. Ilsa Warren the same Dr. Warren from Eden Prime?

Possibly: Maneul also went to work for Cerberus in regards to Prothean technology (in the Firewalker packs).

Who knows maybe they dropped said idiot ball too late and can now just put up a resistance against the reapers that'll slow them down.

Maybe its the backdoor that allows the Reapers access to do their dirtywork.

My theory is that a prothean method of travel which competes with the mass effect relays. While a long shot, the Reapers shut down the network of relays as soon as they entered the galaxy during the Prothean attack. Unless the citadel is the only place that it can be controlled from, all the allied alien species in the universe won't help save Earth if it takes 120 years to reach it. Just as long as they don't say "warp", I think it'll be a nice development.

I just love to see how Cerberus fanboys instantly jumps on this CDN and proclaims it as evidence to the supposed Cerberus - Alliance connection. Evidence must be really non-existant if they proclaim this as something huge.

First of all, we don't know whether the Alliance knows of the Milky Way Foundation as a front for Cerberus. One would assume they would make a new one if so. At best it's a 50/50 situation of whether the Alliance knows or not.

Secondly, looking at CDN history, I'm betting on a follow up story on this. Lets wait and see huh? At least we can be assured this will be very relevant to a DLC or ME3 story line.

Yes, yes, and 90% of statistics are made up on the spot.

The Milky Way Foundation is nearly as old as Cerberus itself: well, well before it ever went 'rogue.' For the Alliance'not to know that Cerberus and the Milky Way Foundation  were linked druing the decade+ of direct Alliance/Cerberus connection is such an atrocious oversight during the times of outright Alliance oversight as to be an idiot ball of Collector Base proportions.

While it doesn't say that Cerberus is strictly a part of the Alliance as it once was, the designation of a Cerberus company to handle potent technology of galactic implications is a very strong indicator of continued Cerberus/Alliance connections at the highest levels. (Which we already knew, but this just furthers how far that spreads: not simply a face-to-face basis of TIM being able to place calls, but actual Cerberus-tied organizations being allowed to handle such data at all.)

This isn't part of the 'week before the DLC' CDN, so it's not especially more relevant than, say, the ghost ship storyline.

The instant kill anti reaper Deus Ex Machina virus or weapon we need to finish ME3 perhaps. If that isn't already in the Collector Base of course.

I didn’t know that about the Milky Way Foundation. Posted ImageThat’s cool!

Of course, Cerberus project staff aren’t exactly known for living long healthy lives either!

I  say Dr. Warren still better update her will.

And so it begins. The magical prothean discovery pulled out of Bioware's ass that will save the galaxy.

I really hope I'm wrong.

Going back to LotSB, Liara mentions that the recently deceased SB was searching for something more from the Protheans. Maybe this is what he was looking for.

Mars was also the Prothean base from which they studied early humans, so the vault could contain that information. I'm also curious if they plan on revisiting the Prothean scientists that built the Conduit. Vigil speculates that they died on the Citadel, but they might have escaped (and maybe to Mars).

I hope you're wrong too, because the whole plot of ME1 is racing to discover and reach a magical Prothean *weapon to defend against the reapers. (conduit) It would seem pretty weaksauce if there was another secret enclave of surviving Protheans who built a super-laser that they never had time to finish..or something.

Anyway, I highly doubt this is it. However - I do think there should be more prothean content in the ME franchise. Not a super-weapon, but I've always wanted to see more than ruins.  I found Ilos disappointingly small and unused. I would have liked a lot more time spent exploring and investigating Ilos.

Uh, If the Protheans got wiped out by the Reapers, would it make any sense for it them to possess the technology to destroy them? If so, why didn't they utilize it? Did they choose submission (becoming Collectors) over combat?

Dr. Warren was the archeologist Shepard met on Eden Prime along with her crazy assistant (say goodnight Manuel).
