Lol! I can, too. Yeah, I forgot about the keep upgrading thing and I didn't leave him behind so I never had to deal with that anyway. On the other hand, there is little that can't be explained with a little creativity, and these folks have a lot of that.Addai67 wrote...
At least in some endings, he's definitively dead. I believe that's if the Keep is not upgraded and he's left behind. But if they decide to retcon, he'll only have been mostly dead I guess.errant_knight wrote...
As someone once told me when I lost a cat, if there's no body, it's not dead. Found the cat 6 months later, worse for wear, but alive. This holds true even more so in fiction. If we don't see the death, then we really don't know for sure.
I can totally hear Anders saying "I got better."
I agree errant_knight.

And I'm hopping from foot to foot in excitement now. Not just because of possible Anders. I'm kind of in love with default Hawke as well...

Sorry but no, Sebastian basically IS Nathaniel with a different face/name/accent. We don't need two broody archers from noble houses who are out for revenge.
You can never have too much of a good thing!

Only thing that concerns me is that he can die if u leave him at the keep at the end and I'd imagine lots of peeps would rage if that meant they'd have to redo Awakenings to make sure he lives so they can have another mage in their party AND I'd imagine they'd still rage if the fact that he died in their Awakening save file if he was still a possible companion, lol.
I just hope Valenna is not a possible companion cuz she was my least favorite companion in all of DA and it's DLC games. That's about the only one I'd probably rage about myself. Hey, it's the internet, everyone can get hardcore with their keyboard here.

I hope he comes back, that'd be cool. If he does, I really hope he has Ser Pounce Alot, lol. I'd really like the chance to actually have dialogues with him this time like I did with all my Origins companions to get know him, that was really lacking in Awakening.

Also, let's not forget how many other details they've retconned. Races look completely different. I don't think what happened to Anders in your individual playthrough will have much if any impact on DA2.

The newest dev diary seems to lend credence to the notion of the companions coming and going at their discretion...so *shrug* maybe they are not all available all of the time.

I think what's important is that you sussed out Sebastian's entire story from the clip. Since being noble archers that are out for revenge is all there is to either character, I guess we really should have stuck with just the one. Our bad.

OR.
or the space-time continuum simply collapses when they meet.

So far we are completely missing a purely sarcastic/comic relief character.
And WE NEED a purely sarcastic/comic relief character.
I for one would be happy to have Anders back. He's my favorite Awakenings companion. I just can't get enough of the snarky-goofiness combo.
I know very little of the revealed companions so far, but from my first impression (which is subject to change upon more reveal or gameplay) it seems most of the companions are dark/serious/broody in one way or another. For me it would make the game too heavy or dark. One of the things I liked about DA is the interspersing of comedy with the drama & I feel having Anders back would bring that.
My two cents.

Varric and Isabela strike you as dark/serious/broody?

Maybe Malu managed to catch Varric when he spilled wine on his favorite and most expensive shirt. *broods*

No matter what character we bring in, if they had any epilogue text (no matter how far into the future that epilogue forecast) I'm positive that we won't treat them nearly as sacrosanct as some people on these forums will think we should. That's not, you'll note, the same as not dealing with them at all.
Not to mention one of the 'endings' has Anders joining the crew of a 'merchant ship' with a 'certain female captain', eh? =P
Of course, I'm obviously wrong, but I can hope, right?

So potentially, Anders and Nathaniel could both make Cameos pre-Awakening as temporary companions.

LOL, sorry, I meant, broody - Sebastian, dark - Fenris (the background - former slave, the shots I've seen, facial expression looks kinda grim to me). Varric - strikes me as being a suave character, definitely not goofy. My impression of Isabella is whip smart & a fun character, but not a funny in a comic relief kind of way. Anders strikes me as a little goofy & I like goofy characters
Now bear in mind these are all first impressions, my first impressions. I could be totally wrong once we get to know these characters better during game play.

He seemed a bit retready of Alistair even in Awakening, personality wise, though no the whininess, so if he's in DA2 I'd love to see more than the snark

Only the prologue ( fleeing from Lothering until the arrivial in Kirkwall) is during the blight, once you are allowed to enter the city there is a one year time jump during which the blight is ended. The majority of the game takes place after the blight, so any appearance of former companions can only happen after they played their part in DA:O or DA:A.DiscipleofUranus wrote...
If I remember correctly, wasn't Nathaniel in the Free Marches during the Blight.? And again, i may be remembering this wrong, but the story of Hawke starts during the blight and finishes afterwards.
So potentially, Anders and Nathaniel could both make Cameos pre-Awakening as temporary companions.
In some previews hints that Anders is in Kirkwall are mentioned, but I would prefere if they are not true. Because if Anders is the unrevealed sixth companion the m/m romance has to be with either Varric or Fenris and I would rather have a human LI for that romance.
