I mentioned this in a different post, but I will make it an official report here.
This wasn't a problem in the past, so must be something in the latest updates.
The formating bar is gone in the forum edit window and when I click on a smiley I get a "Error on Page" in the bottom bar.
I am using IE8, not sure of the Java version as I think it might be an issue with that.

they're definitely not broken in firefox - it's an IE8 specific issue. We'll look into it.

Also noticed that when I hover over a smilie, it says "javescript:void(0);" then "Error on page" when clicking it.
How do I check my Java version?
Could it be a security setting in IE8?

javascript and java are completely different things. They've just got similar names to confuse people. The browser is what runs javascript rather than something separate.

It's IE being the bane of web developers everywhere - the WYSIWYG editor has gone poof as well because of some recent changes.
We're working on it.
