My wife and I are both looking foward to playing Dragon Age: Origins, and we've each downloaded and started creating characters.  Do I have to buy us both a copy of the game for each of our pcs, or will I be able to install the game to both computers with a single copy?

The couple who games together has fun together!

Actually, this reminds me is the game going to be a full install, or will we need a game disc loaded in the cd-rom/dvd drive to actively play?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you had to buy two copies. Companies are getting pretty strict these days with all of the piriting going on :/. Its all good though, BioWare deserves it :)

You need the disc in the drive to play. Other than that, there's no excessive DRM - so you can install on as many computers as you like.

Just buy 1 copy and direct download the other from some place like Steam. Dont need a disc in the drive if you DD it. Oh and BTW I dont think you will be able to play together at the same time.

You can install the full game on both computers, but only one account can be registered with the key. The game requires the DVD in the drive to be played.

Can another key be purchased for less?  That is, can you purchase only the key sans the disc and get a discount?

You're asking the company that has 3x Day One DLC and in game NPCs that sell you DLC if there's a cheaper alternative for a second client other than having to buy a whole new game?  hehe That's cute.  Really.  Never change, your innocence is a beacon in these dark times.

No, if you want two people playing, you need two full game clients.

You can both play, but not at the same time.

You don't need an additional key. Only an additional DVD. That's all I'm going to say...

Good to know its not 'key' sensitive...some of the above responses gave that impression.

I could be wrong, but if you buy the game from D2D, can't you just DL and install it on 2 comps? Whats to keep you from playing both at the same time?

That sounds suspiciously too easy to me... </sarcasm>

Since the even easier way is not allowed to be discussed on these boards, a lot of the responses only indirectly hinted.

You mean some responses beat around the bush by sort of indirectly hinting about another different way that is alleged to be maybe an alternate way of getting around ways to play the game on 2 computers...you don't say ;).

Well considering its one household that is going to buy the game don't see why not @ what people are hinting.

Get it from Steam, download it on both - this will have to be sequential, since you can't log in on more than one computer at a time. Then make sure that if both are playing, one person disconnects their computer from the internet and just plays it off line.

Edit: Of course there's a real easy way to get around this if you use a physical version, but you'll be violating the terms of use and EULA.

Wouldn't it, theoretically, be possible if you eject the DVD after the game has loaded, and given the DVD to the other person?

Of course, if you truly love her, you'll buy two copies. Posted Image

Actually, with Steam you can both play at the same time by using offline mode. Log in on one computer, switch to offline mode, disconnect internet for that computer and the other person can log on.

Thats what I used to do to play games on LAN all the time. If its just a simple DvD check then it wont be a problem, I keep seeing people say thats what it is but Ive not seen any official conformation.

I cant say anything else without risk of being banned >.>

No official confirmation? It was all over the forums one year ago, just because you're late for the party doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Please note the failure of media to make a lot of noise about this, because it seems "good news" doesn't really make a "good story" anymore. At best, people are walking off, grumbling about how it was about time.

Such double-standards.

unless bio added something so you CANT, im pretty sure you will be able to install one copy on both your household PCs. then if you both want to play at the same time, boot your game up with the disk in drive, then start playing, eject and give to her.

thats what i'll be doing. no sense in buying more than one copy for your household.

the only thing u might have an issue with is registering the game to get the DLC (theres 2 free DLCs available on launch) on both PCs, but you probably can do that too.
