Why not just use mana clash on both? There's maybe one or two fights in the entire game where that wouldn't work, and that's cause there's more than two mages.
archery just as good as duel wield?

Are people still overlooking combat movement with archers? While bows don't backstab, the larger flanking range, and bonuses are honestly amazing anyway.
As an aside: Stealth+Scatter shot is one of the most disgusting AE attacks in the game.

If by that you mean, "better than anything else a rogue and warrior can do but still not as good as what a mage can do for a smaller investment," then yes.
