OK, so I'm officially hyped once again, it looks awesome! Though I'm not too keen on Hawke's voice...

I think this pretty much confirms another party member and the second female LI ! :o Fortunately, she's not ugly as in DAO

Just a comment about Merrill's "frontal" assets:

I don't know what's up with that screen capture you got. I look at it and they seem big, too-- trust me, they're not. Must be the particular angle and the way her top works, I don't know.

Oh, has the obsessive picking apart of female character appearances started already? How nice.

I'm not really certain playing the sex card is justified. Every reveal has been 'picked apart', analyzed, praised, and criticized irrespective of gender.

Sorry, but that's not true at all. Female characters have always been disproportionately picked apart -- usually by male fans, though not always -- than male characters. There's probably lots of reasons for that, but it's been pretty consistently true for many games now.

I read through this whole thread and could only face_palm how annoying some people here are. It almost makes me feel sorry for the devs since every five seconds people are begging for more information and then when something new comes out, they complain nonstop at the most trivial/nonsensical things.

Of course then I remember they are evil soul sucking vampires who feast upon our misery and sorrow and then I go back to staring at my calendar.

That's okay. I virtually guarantee that on other forums there are attacks made that are much more personal. Oh, hell, there's nothing virtual about it. They are; the only question is how long until someone calls one of us a drooling moron. (Typically, it's me, and it's about 10 posts) ;)

So, thanks for keeping it reasonable, folks! Oh, and glad to see a lot of enjoyed this look. Our marketing team have done a great job putting these making-of pieces together. I just wish that I could slide in from offscreen and deploy sound bites in tandem with Dave, Mark and Jennifer as part of my everyday routine.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we still have no confirmation on her being an actual love interest. Did that change?

Nope.

If not, should we entirely remove young characters from video games? Or is it merely the combination of a young woman with an above average sized bosom that's outrageous?

To some, possibly. It's an interesting angle they've got in that shot, considering that Merrill is a B-cup at best (if you want to get technical about it). Her outfit is baggy in the front, so it simply looks that way (and it does, I see what you're seeing from that particular shot).

As for her looking tiny, I assume that's also the angle. She's not much smaller than an average human, to be honest. She is thin, though-- all elves have very slender body types (to go back to the art team's intention to give the races more distinct silhouettes).

One assumes that as we release more information, people will get a better impression. It's hard to judge something (particularly a whole race) based on a single screenshot (Carver, anyone?). But in the meantime, it's fun to speculate away. Feel free. B)
