New Dev Diary - The Story

I'm really impressed with that- looks awesome. I thought the fact that while they were talking about LIs the fact the video showed Aveline, Isabela and presumably Merril was telling (or at least hinting). But its the overall story of the Champion that has me the most excited. Has the potential to be truly epic and involve choice and consequences I haven't seen in a BioWare game before. The voice acting seemed fine, the graphics impressive.

I'm really not trying to bash the game here, just giving my honest opinion as others probably have since the announcement. That being said, I'm looking forward to the game and another well told story by Gaider and his crew.

She looks like black-haired Aerie from BG II.
I like Carver's looks and Cassandra's looks. I wish we could have heard Fenris' voice.
Mama Hawke looks very very young.
Can I be the first to complain about two male Hawke's LIs being revealed and no straight female Hawke's LIs being revealed?
That was an intial impression I got as well. Aerie.

I can only speak for myself. How is it bad? Context. I personally will find it amusing, if not distracting to be "rising to power" with a FFF busty pirate in my party. Just like Russ Meyer movies had plots and stories, regardless of the content of the story, it was still cast with super-busty women. Its just belief-suspending. In the same way that I find the very large 2h swords belief-suspending. I'm not asking for realism in a fantasy game, its just a matter of context and immersion. Some stuff just takes me out of context and breaks the immersion.
Whats more bizarre is that most, if not all, females have DDs. Outside of the ones in armor, even the old chantry lady in Sebastian's trailer, Bethany and (seemingly) Merrill are huge. I'm ok if some women are depicted as such in the game, but it cringe worthy when every women looks that way more or less.
I know it likely comes down to having a finite amount of models, but still, it comes across as rather juvenile.
There would be just as many howls if every woman was flat as a board.

Yeah, because there's nothing in between those two. You either have DD busty or nothing at all.Beerfish wrote...

Choose any size you like. I'll even let you choose, you name the size and I'll rail about it being unrealistic and stupid because gosh darn I know good looking big chested and good looking flat chested woman and this is making all females generic.
As clearly stated by others the problem is they don't have breast sliders and are not going to make multiple models just to accomodate breasts.

Looking great so far, Isabella upped the smoke'n hotness leval, Aveline still needs to paper bag it though & Merril looks great
On that note, if you lok at the merril pics and think "sexualized child" you A) have no idea what a child looks like andhave some serious mental problems, sex offender listing type mental problems, at no point in time do you see a stylized young woman with something of a baby face and think "mmm sexualized child" get help nutters, you're really screwed in the head
Just because we think Merill looks like a child doesn't mean we're a bunch of perverts. I have no idea how you came to that conclusion.
And god forbid we have a female companion (Aveline) who doesn't have a perfect appearance.

How is that a bad thing exactly ? Plus, they look natural, if I may comment.

That makes sense. Although I find the generic male human's huge arms much more immersion-breaking. For mages and vendors to all looks like the guies in 300 (who look like dudes who spent too much time at the gym more than they look like skilled warriors) feels much more off IMO. I agree about some of the swords, especially when you see the hilt. But back on the breasts (probably the first time I use the phrase "back on the breasts" in my life), they're certainly there but I would't call it silly ; what Isabela's wearing allows for cheating after all, and on video game standards, I'd say we're pretty lucky ; you should see some of the mods out there

With the touted customized companions' bodies I was sort of hoping that just the love interests and female Hawke could be busty, while the rest of the NPCs could have a more average size like B or C.

Characters look good enough. Environments do not, I'm sad to say. There's a short pan of the city at 03:15 in the video; it could very well be from a 7-8 year old game. The aim for a contrast between the environment and the characters is either a lust for cash or an artistic mistake. Most likely the former. Imagine Dragon Age 2 with the richly detailed enviroments of The Witcher 2.
I'm really not trying to bash the game here, just giving my honest opinion as others probably have since the announcement. That being said, I'm looking forward to the game and another well told story by Gaider and his crew.
i'd rather have a 30 hour long game with good visuals than an 8 hour game with mindblowing textures

I think Bioware has proven itself competent enough to give us great quality on all ends. It's not showing here.

I love when people project their issues on other people.
Oh well, unless she looks older from the beginning of the game to the end, like Aerie, I won't have anything to do with her.
I don't care that my allies aren't supermodels, heck, I like everything I've heard about Aveline, for instance. I just don't like kids in battle.
She reminds me of Meracle from Star Ocean 4. *shudders*

Generic! That is it.
I wish the in-world generic would have been a nice C though. That is full for an athletic woman and doesn't distract from the surrounding... It is attractive and in the right clothes, looks bigger. *shrug* THIS is distracting for males too. Zevran did not wear one.
Whatever floats Bioware's boat...
