well....uhm....elves are smaller than humans and Merril happens to be young....this is getting mighty similar to the arguments about Tali and Liara being jailbait and Shepard being a pedophile...

This.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we still have no confirmation on her being an actual love interest. Did that change?

If not, should we entirely remove young characters from video games? Or is it merely the combination of a young woman with an above average sized bosom that's outrageous?

Liara and Tali only acted like young girls. Merrill actually looks like one.

but you really do not know what a young Quarian looks like...do you?

Nor you know if Liara looks childish by asari standards

That looks like straight ASS. I'm betting this game will be about 20-30 hours in length. I know the replay value won't match Origins but hopefully there's something there. I fear this is the beginning of the end for Bioware. Such a shame.

Oh joy you're back to criticising the game, make up your mind.

I don't see what how they looked has anything to do with how they acted?

And they did both act rather young.  Especially Liara. . .who probably should not have.  (And I would argue probably not Tali either in ME:2)

It appears this is our full set of companions (and probably Bethany/Carver) too. That appears to be "Anders" at the bottom.

I hope not, that's less than origins....

Seriously, I´ve read through 12 pages of commentary and I can´t understand the hate on Merril´s looks, comentaries like:

"her head is too big for her body"

"her shoulders are too big for her body"

"her <insert body part> is too <insert size> for her body"

Seriously guys, you are thinking on HUMAN standards, and she is not a human, maybe DA elves have bigger heads than humans do, I see no problem in that.

Btw, if she is a LI, she´s got me already, can´t help it, always been a sucker for the little women, height difference has to be over 30 centimeters to pick my interest ;p

Hawke's voice is lame. He sounds like a butler as opposed to some kind of legendary ass-kicker. Whoever picked Hawke's voice actor should be fired.

Atakuma said that, differently from Tali and Liara, Merryl actually looks too childish

Well, the game is said to be shorter (somewhere between DAO and the Awakening) so less companions can make sense given this.

Actually, I'm starting to think that the replay value will be better. Origins was the same game all over again after the first 20 minutes of origin, after that it was mostly specks of altered dialogue and slightly different gameplay.

Here it seems our choices affect the world throughout the entire game, hopefully making for more possible outcomes. That fits my definition of replay value better.

This has to be an old build. I love the voices. The graphics.....

And are we going to see any place outside of Kirkwall?

Well I just hope that there's no parts where you split up, or one party's going to be thoroughly screwed..... especially for people that decide not to recruit a person/have a mutiny or don't buy the DLC....

I love when RPG's split you up.

To me, it makes the party. . .seem. . .less dependant on you.  It reminds me why I carry them along again.

Bioware never does it, though.

The hexagon seems to show the ones that stick around. I think I remember it being said that there are 'temporary' companions who are around for an act or two.

Also the soundtrack seems to have drawn some influence from John Williams Star Wars epicness, thumbs up.

DA 2 is shaping up to be an interesting, perhaps more linear game? There may be a trial by fire for DA 2, I'd like to see it come out relatively unscathed.

"her" point was that Merryl being the naive young love interest would be worse than Liara and Tali because she actually does look young while not necessarily actually being underage or anything.

my rebuke is that one cannot really make a comparison in that department

When you make a console port the graphics are going to be pretty bad.

Yeah, the way in which it was mentioned in the video how in Origins we travelled the land yet in DA2 we travel mostly forward in time makes it seem like we will indeed be mostly staying in Kirkwall for the vast majority of the game. Which, even if its Athkatla sized big, thats really disappointing.

I believe we will see a few places outside Kirkwall...but honestly Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall. Not the Champion of the Free Marches lol. As for graphics...I think they already look fantastic, but to me that don't matter...because I would still play it if it looked like an Atari 2600 game. story makes a game for me...everything else is a very very distinent second.

Right. That's what your dozen or so threads about how the game looks like crap and will be horrible suggests to me: neutrality.

Well guess everyone was wrong about Carver's DERPiness, myself included. Looking forward to some more of him now too

A little hard for me to develop any sort of reaction to Merrill in the two second, non-voiced clip there. I have nothing against her look though.

Isabela, Cassandra, and Varric are all right on target for my mental imagery and whatnot of them. Aveline sounds different than I expected(like a nice voice)

Speaking of voicing, Hawke sounds great I think. With every update it gets harder for me to figure out what gender and class I want to start out with, this one being no exception. Hoping for some LadyHawke dialogue soon. Also more Fenris and Sebastian.

Overall, DA2 looks good. I never doubted Bioware would make a great game and so far it looks better than I could have hoped.

Looking forward to two more months of not playing this(/sarcasm)

Nope.

To some, possibly. It's an interesting angle they've got in that shot, considering that Merrill is a B-cup at best (if you want to get technical about it). Her outfit is baggy in the front, so it simply looks that way (and it does, I see what you're seeing from that particular shot).

As for her looking tiny, I assume that's also the angle. She's not much smaller than an average human, to be honest. She is thin, though-- all elves have very slender body types (to go back to the art team's intention to give the races more distinct silhouettes).

One assumes that as we release more information, people will get a better impression. It's hard to judge something (particularly a whole race) based on a single screenshot (Carver, anyone?). But in the meantime, it's fun to speculate away. Feel free. B)

Some people seem to lack 3D perspective, like the ones saying that she
is as thin as Hawke´s arm... they seem to forget that Hawke´s arm is
about 30 centimeters from the camera while Merrill is standing somewhere close to 2 meters away from it.
