And hopefully it'll make their relationship interesting, because Carver still seems a little bland to me.

I'm going to get Carver because I'm going to play a mage. Ultimately I have no real preference for either (aside from the fact that the game probably assumes you love both your siblings, warts and all), because I don't really know anything about either of them (neither do most other people here). I *guess* I'm not surprised that people are taking their real-life beliefs, ideals, and desires about siblings and projecting them unto these currently blank-slate characters.
I think I read somewhere on the forum that Hawke doesn't actually have to love his family

Yeah, from all of one line we've heard him speak so far.dreamextractor wrote...

And the fact that all we know about him is 'brother' and 'warrior'.

But yeah, one of them will probably die.

Well, if you think you read it on this forum, how could it possibly be wrong?

I'm judging by appearance here, ngl and I don't really care. If any future info we get on him proves me wrong, and he turns out to be interesting then great, but for now I associate his character design with blandness. His appearance just seems a little uninspired to me.

snippy much? sheesh, forget I said anything.
this is where I read it from, which is really more word of mouth, but I never said I thought I was right. Hence the "I think". Wasn't trying to push anything as a fact.

Then don't end such a statement with a "smug wink" emoticon (and yes, in that context it came off as smug to me).

Yep, people would praise Bioware - be a jerk and save your family [and feel dirty about it later] or try to be the hero and save everyone, and everyone loses something.
Unfortunately the story couldn't accomodate it.

I'm confused. In what way is Carver any way like Morrigan? If anything Bethany is more like Morrigan, albeit in completely superficial ways like her being a dark-haired apostate with ample cleavage.steelfire_dragon wrote...
Bethany as CArver is a carved up Morrigan wannabe

I admit, Carver being like Morrigan is among the silliest things I've heard on this forum.Aris Ravenstar wrote...

I'm not even sure what it means ("carved up?").

Mods can do many things but they have their limits, and honestly, they are rarely concerned with what is dramatically correct.
And I'll do whatever I can to make the game accommodate the maximum number of mages.
And I insist that you are wrong.

I just hate having the a game changing decision forced on you like that. And I say game changing because I believe the living sibling stays with you for the rest of the game. So unless Bioware changed their mind because of the negative reaction, which I doubt because it is too late in the design now, we will have to wait for a mod or perhaps dlc.
Unfortunately a mod won't do because I bet bioware never recorded the dialogue necessary for Bethany to refer to your character as a mage, and a mod can't add dialogue.

Edit:
I think because there would be more friction between Carver and Hawke, I want to explore the ups and downs of their relationship but eventually reconcile with him because well he's Hawke's brother. He must be upset of being overshadowed by his big sister or maybe the fact that the chantry is after them and that is something that I find interesting in his character. The sense rivalry that might exist there.
Carver is going to have to wait for my 2nd playthru~
