As a big sister to 3 boys in real life, I have to go with Carver. I'm used to younger boys that can fight better than me, and I have no real context for sisterly rivalry. I'll be opting for a mage playthru over my preferred rogue for my first time, just so this can happen. But I already know I'll be going through the game again, so I'll get to see them both.

Same here. I have a brother, so it should give me a warm fuzzy feeling and a sense of connection to see the femHawke/Carver relationship. I wouldn't really know what to do with Bethany. But I always play a mage first anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. I'll do a rogue second to get to know Bethany, though I'd probably end up treating her like a brother or a best friend

A lot of people have mentioned it but I don't see what a person's real life siblings have to do with Bethany/Carver.

I want to play a warrior so I will get Bethany even though I have no sister in rl. Hawke's family will be different than my own so getting a connection with Bethany won't be any harder than with Carver or Hawke's mother and every other companion for that matter. I just don't see why people would design their playstyle around the fact that they want to have a brother because they have one in rl.

Bethany she made the final choice for me on my first playthrough if I was going to be a Mage or Warrior like the idea of being the protective brother rather than having some rivalry with Carver but I am looking forward to the conversations if you can compete with him over a someone

For me, it makes the conversation choices come more easily. I'd think about how I joke around with my brother and think 'yeah that sounds like what a sister would say to her annoying brother'. I'm not sure if you would treat your annoying sister differently.

I lean towards saying Carver, in part because I've always wanted a brother. It does mean I'm going to have to play a mage for my first playthrough, which is far from usual for me - I really prefer getting into the thick of things during a fight. But since dual-wielding warrior is already out, I'm already playing against my traditional type.

But another reason that I'm going for Carver is because I think there's more story in him, as he seems to provide more conflict in the game. Granted, I'm basing this mostly off of the one scene we've got of him that could possibly happen with either sibling, but Bethany strikes me as more willing to go along with Hawke no matter what, while Carver will question. Story-wise, I find that more interesting.

I'd kind of lean towards Carver, because I have brothers. Three of them. And having a video game brother would be something interesting to relate to, I guess, in a weird kind of way. I dunno...



I like Bethany too, though. I've never had a sister, so I could get the video game version of that, too. I wish I could keep them both. XD

Bethany because i play as Female characters and i think it would be cool to have the sisters live instead of the sister and brother lol.

I dont have any brothers or sisters in real life but still I think the concept of looking out for a younger sibling of the same gender would be cool for a story

Well I would prefer to keep Bethany, but while I don't want to play in DA2 a warrior class ( don't like when my PC jumping around as a drunk bunny, when she fight) I unfortunetly will get Carver ( well hope that later in game I will not see " my family" too often, or he will die..or maybe there will be Bethany mod...)

I can be bothered. including the posts before mine (and after yours) there are 69 votes for Bethany and 49 for Carver. that means 58.5% said Bethany and 41.5% liked Carver.

also when someone said "I like Carver, but since I like Mages, I'll get Bethany" I counted that as a voate for Carver not Bethany (and vise verse). I also didn't count the ones that were simply based on class like "I like mages, so Carver" since that's no indication of a character's popularity.

Carver. I don't know why. Just do. I have a brother in real life, maybe that's why? Because then I can call him on the phone and be like, "You just did this in the game, I'm mad at you, stop it!" And then he can wonder again why he was blessed with me for a sister.

Yeah I was among the many dissapointed by this... Until I heard Carvers awesome voice in The Story dev diary! Damn it was awesome. it sounds like Ewan McGregor! I was like.. "Holy ****... may the force be with me"!!

Someone from Bioware already said that it wont be possible for a mod like that as it would break the game as its to much of an alteration. I guess our sibling plays a bigger role in the plot them we thought.

But yeah If only mods were possible.. Actually I think it was in this very thread that discussion was had
