Whoops, okay this is my last attempt to make anything with this screenshot... another sketch effect but this time I'm a little satisfied with the result.
Edit: decreased brightness and contrast a little because it looked funny on the black forum background
Now this, my friends, is TRUE art.

So... How did the Carver-Merrill thing start? And Bethany-Fenris, for that matter.

Hawke: "Merrill, what have you there?"
Merrill : (sweet puppy eyes) "Nothing it's just a plant for my potion."
Hawke: "It smells...like.... whooa (faints)"
Merrill: "You should learn to leave a girl smoke in peace...." (spreads the plant's seeds on a leaf and starts rolling it).

And that's just one of the problems, the other being why bother developing your own boards' system when there are free open-source ones out there (read. PHPBB, FUDforumm... etc) that work like a charm, ~sigh~ I don't think I'll ever understand.
Anyway on-topic what do you think the effects of Merrill being so close to humans will do to her life span, if the Dalish live longer than city elves as they claim and if Merrill isn't exiled what would make her risk her very pure elven nature just to be in Kirkwall?

The tales of the Elves living lives so long are from another time, where Elves ruled huge portions of land, and had big cities and great -magic- power... Maybe they're even a mith of a golden fanciful past...
Now Elves are mostly refugees, clinging for survival...

I believe that if Merrill will not be exiled, she's going to continue to live in the dalish camp. Long time ago Gaider said something in regards of the companion's bases, that if the companion lives outside Kirkwall, you'll meet him in a certain place in Kirkwall. Merrill fits very well in this case.

It's commercial software.

I seriously doubt that being around humans lowers elven lifespans. The Dalish probably live longer than city elves because they don't live in poverty and squalor, and have mages around to provide healing.

I don't think the elves would just exaggerate the parts about their long life span, eventaully they'd "die" or as I like to call it "wither away" besides we see proof to its existence inside the werewolves lair.

I never thought of that, it'd be quite possible for her to stay with the clan but it wouldn't explain why can Hawke drag her with him in some missions that aren't related to the elves or her clan in Kirkwall, on the other hands her staying with her clan would provide an opportunity for more interaction with the dalish which is aces in my book.

Hmmm I didn't know that, and to be honest it doesn't look like it, in the faq they state that they don't have many resources or time to develop certain features in the forums, if this was commercial I'd expect it to have a normal dev cycle with regular updates....I think my opinion about BSN is this: love the idea, hate the code.

The dalish in Origins didn't seem to have any doubts as to why they live longer, one would guess if their adaptive genes work like telepathy or somthing lol, the shems project their "quickened" blood on them and they age faster or something... I hope we get a better explanation for this in DA2.

I haven't played a ranger yet in Awakening, are you not able to summon one?
Speaking of rangers, I think Merrill would have this ability if it weren't limited to the rouge class.

Ah well, I guess it's a little sketchy to have a human rogue use Ranger anyway. I always imagine the first time my Dalish PC summoned a wolf that it was a big WTF moment for Alistair. It's more of a magic talent, perhaps Merrill will have a summon spell. She seems to summon a demon, if it's really her that Marian is talking to in the shot.

I always tried to imagine it not so much as "summoning" but more of just having a wolf pet (or bear or spider). That's how I RP'd my HNF rogue anyway. She probably spent more time connecting with nature than dealing with nobility crap.
*sighs*
Oh well, no ranger Hawke for us.
