The Dalish Clan from Origins, Marethari/Merrill Clan have settled on Sundermount and thats were we have to go to deliver Flemeth's amulet.
And good chance that we can learn Bloodmagic there, since Merrill is a bloodmage, specialisation "Dalish Pariah". She is then send away (exiled) by Marethari with us to Kirkwall and that she will be a party member

I was always wondering how they make Merrill more interesting since in DA:O she ... wasn't really. Well bloodmagic is surely a way to do that. Now I can't wait to learn her story.

Kinda beats Bethany even if she is Hawke's sister. Ha-ha.

Agreed, we'd already guessed everything related to Merrill there, however at Drizzt's request, I have added a spoiler warning.

I don't think she's going to be into blood magic just for the evil, power hungry lulz though. My guess is that she was just really curious and wanted to try something new. "For magical science!"

I also think it would be interesting if she realizes later that she's bitten off more than she can chew by dabbling in dangerous magic. Maybe there will be a sidequest around that...

Agreed, we'd already guessed everything related to Merrill there, however at Drizzt's request, I have added a spoiler warning.

Mainly it was for all the quest-related stuff that was included, not for the Merril content...

Well she was the one who went with the PC to explore the tevinter mirror in the Dalish Origin. Might have to do something with that.

yep there is still this theory I have read some months ago that blood magic was originally elven magic which got corrupted by the tevinters

I think that this quote from Gamereactor article(www.gamereactor.eu/previews/6097/Dragon+Age+II/) is relevant to Merrill:

The elves have had their faces changed as well and no longer looks like humans wearing pointy rubber ears.
They are tall, slim, have big eyes and longer ears - imagine Avatar's Na'Vi mixed with the elves from Origins and you're getting close to how they look now. And no, they are not blue.

So I think this mean, no, Howke will not be able to carry Merrill in his back bag=).
All I can say, yay for tall elves!

I think that this quote refer to how short were DAO elves.  I think that DA2 elves are shorter than humans but not so much as it were in Origins. Perhaps male as high as human female-and this is o.k.

Blood magic originates from demons, Avernus confirms this. Elven slaves taught the human mages how to enter the fade using lyrium, thus giving rise to the magisters. That's all we know. Nothing was ever hinted that blood magic was once a common use among the elves. Given the nature of demons they had just a good a reason to be wary of it as anyone else. Doubly so now that clans rely so much on their Keepers.

Yeah I can see Aveline or Isabela being virginal girl next door  Unless it's Bethany ... All them incest supporters gonna be overjoyed

I don't think she's going to be an abomination. Morrigan knows some blood magic(DR) but wasn't an abomination. She will be probably exiled by Marethari for being a bloodmage, not abomination. EI, howewer, hope that she isn't exiled, or that we can make her return to the dalish in one of her side-quest.

What does the Chantry have to do with it? An Abomination is defined by cruelty and madness, it is no longer a
human/elf. The only person who could never be threatened with the risk
of becoming one is the Player Character, for meta purposes.

I assume the elves would kill the possessed, just like how the warden killed the Abominations in the Tower. The only one who got special treatment was Conner.
