Maybe it's the angle or her clothes but her neck looks freakishly long. And head size is not proportionate to the body.

In regards to all the discussion on how she looks... Well that's pretty much all that we are aware of so far, so that's what we're going to speculate on.

Yep, this was my reaction.

This is how Hawke is going to pick her party:

"Okay, Aveline, Bethany, and Merril, suit up."
"Great.  What are we doing, boss?"
"Aveline, you're tanking.  Bethany, you're healing.  I'm DPS."
"What about Merril?"
"... snuggles and cheek pinches. D'AWWWW!"

Really the complaint that she looks like a teenager are justified. I HOPE I'm wrong. I HOPE elven women do not all look like this now. I HOPE if Merrill isn't being misrepresented in the shot that she is not a LI. It's not just the face it's the proportion of her head to her body and shoulders.
If she is supposed to be as young as she looks and is not a LI that's OK. Being young does not make someone a bad character.
But if she stays looking like a 13 year old AND is a love interest? My gods... that's just, no. No Lolicon please.

13 years old? That's just ludicrous. At least 20. On the right picture she looks 35.

I think the angle of the photo does have something to do with her appearance. Age, neck, and ears.
You can see her nostrils. I think she is looking up at Hawke which changes how she looks.

Its awesome that Merrill has been confirmed for DA2, I really liked her in the DE origin. To be frank though, she looks to be closer to Mission Vao in age and personallity than the 25 ish year old mature woman she was in Origins. Not necesarilly that thats a bad thing or that its true just my first impression.

All I'm saying is that based on that one tiny snippet of footage of Hot Rod Samurai™ Merrill, I find her new look highly, highly unappealing, especially compared to how the Dalish looked in Origins. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see more, but its odd how Fenris is presumably an elf and doesn't look half as bizarre as Merrill looks.

HRS Isabela looks nothing like DAO Isabela, but at least she still looks about the same age.

HRS Merrill not only (facial tattoos aside) looks nothing like DAO Merrill, but also went from a late teens/early twenties character to looking like a kid sidekick that repeatedly got her face punched in.

Add to that that default He-Hawke with his blocky fakey beard who's most likely able to romance her looks to be at least in his late twenties and the situation's quickly getting creepy on top of being ugly.

The one on the right looks lke a young woman. The one on the left looks like a girl in her mid-teens.

Well. She's stacked.  

And she does look a bit...I dunno. The other characters have a degree of realism. Her proportions and features are verging on caricature. Compared to Fenris, she doesn't look like the same type of elf.

Cutesy - thats the word I'm looking for.
