I think every companion's place will reflect his/her personality, Merrill probably wouldn't live inside Kirkwall but I guess wherever she lives her identity will go with her, besides she might live at different places during different time periods of the story, the dalish are nomads after all.

I think you'll find her there to recruit her, but she'll come to Kirkwall with you.

I assume that Sundermount to Kirkwall is a stretch, so she'll probably won't be based there...

Maybe when talking to her, you get to actually sit on/at outdoor furniture, chairs and tables, instead of standing like you always do in Origins. I expect wildlife will also appear in her area.

Hmmm... maybe her area will be nearby Fenris'? Or it's directly connected. Surely the companions' areas will have some connection. Especially those that become romantically involved. *cough* Merrill *cough* Fenris *cough*

Ahaha it would be pretty cool seeing the team interacting with each other. They did say about two people in a bar *cough*Varric*cough*Isabela.
